Greg Koch is always funny and yes, he can play in a positive way. Unlike "Mr. Negative" above..

Greg Koch is a great player and his humor is always engaging, it's part of his personality and playing. If you don't enjoy his particular brand of nuttiness, or the axe he's demoing here, why are you here? I happen to think he's always a blast. He's not boring and he has a great command of many styles. I think he effectively shows how useful this guitar could be in a live situation. Now go forth and summon the power of the night.

Yes, our time would be better spent commenting on Rebecca and, yes, Fender really does need to lose this guy. Right, Pat -- Koch IS only funny to himself. I don't have time for this nonsense.

It's an interesting and somewhat useful toy, you know what I'm sayin'? It has less moving, mechanical parts (think Gibson robot guitar) to break down in no time flat, you know what I'm sayin'? If you need 450 sounds, tons of complicated switches, knobs, settings then these types are for you, know what I'm sayin'? I went into music to get away from all the tech enslavement, know what I'm sayin'? And I like comedy, I like a player with lots of impressive chops, but I just can't take this Koch routine anymore. It got real old the second time I saw this schlock. It's like an ungrounded guitar that just won't stop buzzing, know what I'm sayin'?

But this guitar CANNOT do "strings and horns and more" unless you ADD another Roland pickup with the 13 pin output. That was my point. The guitar has the PICKUP but doesn't go one small step further by giving us the 13 pin output that WOULD HAVE enabled us to plug it into a synth. It can only do whatever modeling of other guitars that it "comes with" on board. How hard would it have been to add JUST THAT MUCH MORE to really appeal to those of us (Yeah, I know, we're a minority) who use guitar synths?

This guy is not funny except to himself and he is, at best, one of those players that simply learned every lick they could and play bits and pieces. OK - now onto what we're really commenting on. I play a Fender Strat with a Roland pickup and, quite frankly, I don't think any of us truly believe our electric guitars are going to sound like dobros or banjos. The whole Roland scene is to enable us to play strings and horns and more. THAT's what this guy should have been showing. If I were Fender or Roland, I'd drop him like a hot potato.

Actually, in all seriousness, I play a great handmade telecaster that has a Roland GK-3 pickup on it which I play through a Roland VG-88. I can get all these great sounds and altered tunings, but best of all, I also can pan all my strings left to right in stereo. The Fender VG guitar doesn't have that ability.... I would like to have seen this guitar equipped with a 13 pin output so that I could run it through a synth or my VG 88 in addition to getting the great onboard sounds and tunings. How hard would it have been to add that?
