This amp is a classic Vox AC30 that has been customized in the factory to duplicate the sound and setup of Queen's Brian May. The top panel is the simplest you will ever see. It has power and standby switches and a single chicken head volume knob. Don't be fooled into thinking you're missing something without a wall of tone knobs, though. The tone on this baby is perfect! Brian May's famous treble booster has been integrated into the amp and is footswitchable. This amp has a unique half-power switch that, when used, results in a true 15W Class A circuit. The way they do this is by changing the number of output valves and the value of the output cathode resistor that bias the valves, and changes the impedance of the output transformer. The amp is mostly hand wired, with only a few pieces of printed board circuitry. It all runs through 2 Celestion/Vox Blue Alnico 12" speakers that deliver some serious tone. It's, of course, all tube (2 ECC83 preamp tubes, 4 EL84 power tubes, and 1 GZ34 rectifier tube), and had a limited run of 500 world wide, so it's sure to be a collector's piece and will probably increase in value as time goes on. It weighs 70 lbs. and comes with the footswitch and a beautiful embroidered cover that seems to be leather, but could possibly be vinyl. I can't really tell, but it's nice. This is a Classic Marshall Amp with all the tone at lower power. Though the 50 watt 1987 MKII shares the same front and rear panel features as its big brother, the 1959 SLP, it does have its own distinct personality. Sweet, warm singing sounds are the trade mark of this great tone machine. As is the case with the 1959 SLP, the 1987 MKII has fittings and hardware as true to the original as humanly possible, to ensure an authentic Marshall "vintage" look, plus the addition of a switchable Series Effects Loop with a true bypass.
