Incorporating two independently discrete channels, the ToneBlender's clean channel is cut from the same mold as our Fralin model with it's big round clean chime. We've combined it with our benchmark all tube overdrive circuit found in our Earthquake 5.1/ 9.1 and Derringer series amps. The OD circuit serves up a smooth rich organic tone, capable of delivering a very touch responsive growl.
Each channel provides meticulous tone shaping with a three band EQ (treble middle and bass) as well as an OD drive control for the just right amount of gain depending on your style of music. You can set it up for a tasty compressed crunch with an occasional snarl as you lean into the notes, or crank it all the way to rock city & peel the paint off the walls.
Now comes the good part. Hit the switch and blend the 2... The result is a full bodied articulate overdriven tone that layers the clean fat chime of the Fralin right in with the sustain and overtones produced by the overdrive. Truly unique and amazing sounds can be produced here almost like playing through two amps at once.
The image created by both channels can be controlled by the way each channel is set, giving you a multitude of sounds ranging from an overdriven tone with an incredibly articulate top end to a thick rich fat almost saxophone like overdrive.
Truly a unique and very expressive amp with a sound all its own... To tie it all together we've added a master volume for the times when you have to keep it down and a presence control to dampen things a bit in bright rooms.
To add some salt and pepper to the sauce we've added a footswitchable gain boost. This is activated in the Overdrive channel only. We set our boost up to be a subtle change in tone and volume, nothing drastic. A small drop off in bass response, a light shove to the mids, and a hint more gain. Just enough to grab their attention.
