Fulltone Secret Frequency Overdrive/Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal - 22669/4An Overdrive/Distortion pedal that can handle regular distortion duties and beyond. This is the Fulltone Secret Frequency. Secret Freq. for short. Although it does the gig-friendly clean boost and OD thing as good as any, it goes well past that when asked to, right into Rock territory while retaining a natural sound. Dynamic asymmetrical clipping gives the Secret Freq. a sweet, musical clean boost, juicy overdrive, and rich, touch responsive high gain sounds. Not like the PlimSoul, nothing like the OCD, and not like any other pedal, but worth the price of admission were you to use it simply as is for your bread and butter OD/Distortion pedal. But the Freq has WAY more tricks in its bag than your average transparent OD/Distortion... it just may knock a handful of OD/Distortions right off your board and straight on to Ebay thanks to another innocent looking knob labeled Freq. . Turn it Clockwise and the proprietary circuit adds as much as 20dB of active narrow band juicy MIDRANGE right where it does the most good. It s like installing a wah-wah right where the distortion is being generated. But unlike turning on your wah-wah along with a distortion pedal, with the Freq. the bass and treble frequencies don't disappear. It's very unique, and not to be confused with a simple active or passive midrange control tacked on to the end of the circuit, as is the case with all other pedals you ve tried with a Mid control. Adding the Freq s midrange imparts WAY more sustain and lets you easily place the guitar in the mix where you want it, irrespective of volume... the soundman's not going to bury you anymore. The ZVex Box of Metal is an aggressive high-gain distortion pedal with a highly effective built-in switchable gate which dramatically reduces noise and unwanted feedback. Its gain and tonal characteristics are somewhat similar to high-gain tube amplifiers that have been the staple of hard rock and metal sounds since the 80's. On the right, the guitar effects pedal has a true-bypass switch with an indicator LED to bypass the entire effect. On the left is a gate switch, that is only effective when the pedal is on (the gate cannot be used separately.) When the gate's LED (on the left side of the pedal) is on, the gate will be active whenever the pedal is turned on. The gate is very useful for cleaning up any noise between palm-muted chords and lead phrases, but may be switched off to initiate feedback or to stretch out soloed notes that are fading into noise. Switching off and on the gate is silent so the gating action of the distortion pedal can instantly be changed during any part of the performance to fluidly integrate soloing and palm-muted chords. The ZVex Vexter Box Guitar Pedal Controls Gate: Adjust for your playing style. When fully clockwise, palm-muting will create an audible thump and bumping the strings will open the gate. Turn down to make the gate tighter. Gate is unaffected by other controls. Drive: Sets the amount of distortion. The Bridge of Metal does not clean up. This control goes from hard to very hard. It may crackle when turned—this is perfectly normal. Treble: adjust for treble content. Use this in tandem with your amp's presence and treble controls to get the precise top-end texture—the presence control is very important on your amp, if you have one. Midrange: Adjust to accentuate or scoop out mids. Bass: Sets the bass/sub-bass level. Volume: Sets the output volume of the pedal.
