Equally as stunning as all Warrior Custom Shop Acoustic guitars, this one is appointed with copious amounts of Purple Heart within the Ebony binding, surrounding the Pearl inlay of the Rosette and laminated into the neck. Most conspicuously is the all Purple Heart Bridge off set on either side with Pearl inlay and positioned in the center of the Piano White top.
The instrument is further finished off with beautiful Pearl purfling surrounding the guitar's top, back, headstock, and both sides of the fretboard with a solid Pearl heal cap. A multicolored Angel of Pearl inlay adorns the fretboard at the 5th fret giving the instrument its name, the Archangel. Off set with an oiled mahogany neck and a wide strip of Purple Heart running through its center and Gold hardware, it is hard to imagine this instrument not getting noticed.
Although an exceptionally beautiful instrument, the sustain and beautiful tone of this guitar would make it stand out even in a dark room or a crowded stage. The Presentation Classical Guitar from La Patrie has a solid cedar top and rosewood laminate back and sides. Also features mahogany neck with rosewood fretboard, rosewood bridge with compensated saddle, gold "lyra" style tuners with pearloid buttons, Quantum I Electronics, and a semi-gloss satin finish. The Presentation guitar is made with a three-way lamination of hardwood that includes a poplar center sandwiched between two layers of rosewood. Rosewood is a tone-wood of exceptional response and projection. A solid cedar top and semi-gloss lacquer finish round out the package. 800 Year Old Trees All La Patrie guitars feature solid cedar tops. The wood used in these tops can be found only in cedar trees that have an average age of about 800 years. The tight, straight grain in this wood makes it strong in the direction of the string tension while at the same time flexible across the grain lines. It is this combination of rigidity and flexibility that give the top its resonance. The vibration of the guitar top is the most crucial element of the sound.Lacquer Finish La Patrie guitars are finished with a special lacquer formula. This finish is light enough to allow the wood to breath and vibrate freely. The tops resonating capacity actually improves as the guitar is played over an extended period of time. This gradual improvement in the response of the top is often referred to as "aging". Poly finishes inhibit top vibration and are therefore never used on LaPatrie guitars. Many other guitars use a thick plastic finish that smothers top vibration and prevents the benefits of aging.Classics that are comfortable to play Classical guitars of the past have typically been made with thick neck dimensions, while this promoted a certain amount of neck stability, it often made certain playing aspects difficult to execute. With a solid Engelmann spruce top, multilayered mahogany/rosewood reinforced neck, and ebony fretboard, the Yamaha LJ16 acoustic guitar can be judged an excellent deal on materials alone. In Yamaha's experience, Engelmann spruce (Canada) naturally suits the role for top woods better than any other. The overriding quality for body top material is an allowance for resonance and Engelmann spruce has this attribute in abundance. This is a Classic Martin Dreadnought with a rare sunburst finish that has grown more beautiful over the years. This is a 1976 model D-35 that I purchased new. As with most Martin D-35's this guitar has great volume and a deep bass tone that has also improved with age.
This is a great rhythm guitar, and I have found it perfect for finger picking because of its wide neck. This guitar is a great instrument for slide players as well. The clear tone and volume you get from using a bottle neck with this Martin is something special. The pick guard is pulling away a bit but the body is pretty much perfect for a 30 year old acoustic that has traveled with me everywhere.
