The Ovation Country Artist is one of the more unique Ovation models. Basically a nylon string for steel string finger pickers. It has a traditional flat classical fingerboard, but the nut width is a slim 1-7/8 inch compared to the typical 2 inch width of a classical. The neck joins the body at the 14th fret, same as Ovation steel sting guitars. As part of the Artist series, this guitar features the slightly shallower Artist depth bowl. The tuners are chrome plated Schaller Classicals. The model shown is the acoustic/electric 1624 version, which has the first generation Ovation FET preamp and single volume control knob on the upper bout.

This guitar comes with the hard shell case (a $150 option at the time) and is in excellent condition for a model made in 1975. This model features 25-1/8" scale, solid Spruce soundboard, Ebony fretboard, and the Ovation medium bowl. Sound is big and balanced with action that is very easy to play even if you are used to standard steel string guitars.Condition is excellent with only one finish crack
(which is typical of the lacquer finish on all Ovations). There are no structural issues at all, and no work is needed on this guitar. Comes with original Ovation hard-shell case also in excellent condition. The guitar sounds like a dream either acoustically or plugged in. more information »

First, the issues:
Neck has been re-set and finish has started checking badly - treated with lemon oil - neck is very playable but gradually rises toward body (3/8" @ 14th fret). Non-original bridge. Heel of neck is broken off where it meets the body (appx. 3/4") but has no effect on sound or playability.
Now the good news:
Kluson Deluxe tuners (middle stripe)and this guitar sounds GREAT! It is very loud with the medium gauge strings, top is SOLID SPRUCE, back & sides, maple, probably laminateed.
These guitars are more popular than ever because they're original, 1950s, all wood instruments made in the USA. Since it has issues, I'm offering it for $200. Everything can be fixed as much as you want to put into it. As is, it's just a great old historical instrument. more information »

Route 66 is all about the road and the road is all about the blues.
T-Bone Walker swung the blues and made his guitar cry like no-one else. The Sounds of American Culture, Route 66, Chuck Berry and the sound that made T-Bone Walker famous is that out-of-phase sound. The Route 66 Seven Sound Palomino has the body style of an ES-175 and a fat 50s neck profile. This guitar is equipped with a push pull pot, 3 P-90 Pickups and a 5 way switch, making that out-of phase sound a reality. This guitar does it all! This guitar is the American Holy Grail come to life for the first time in history! The concept behind the seven-sound mod is simple: add a switching device that can activate the bridge pickup. Position 1 of the 5-way selector switch activates the bridge pickup alone. Position 2 adds the middle pickup to the Bridge pickup. Position 3 engages the middle pickup only. Position 4 adds the neck pickup to the middle pickup. Position 5 engages the neck only. By engaging the push pull pot in Position 5 the bridge is added to the neck for your first out of phase sound. This is Position 6. Position 7 is achieved by engaging the push/pull pot in Position 4 for your second out of phase sound. These are the seven sound possibilities.
This guitar is one of only 12 that were Custom Built by Dean Guitars exclusively for Route 66 Classic Guitars. This guitar was designed for the player by the players. You asked for it! We got it! This guitar is cool! It's all about America, the '50s and the road to rock and roll. This guitar comes complete with "Route 66" engraved on the truss rod cover, the Dean Route 66 Limited Edition Certificate of Authenticity, 7 way switching instructions and an Alligator case complete with Route 66 Sticker on the outside of the case and hydrometer inside to ensure your guitar is safe at all times. more information »
