The Gibson SG Standard Electric Guitar retains much of its original specs , including the same legendary body style and construction of the guitar that was originally slated to be the second edition of the Les Paul model 50 years ago. While that plan became (thankfully) temporary, the SG went on to become one of the most recognizable, iconic guitars in popular music history, and appeared on numerous history altering recordings. The Gibson SG Standard carries that 50 year tradition straight into the future.
The unmistakably classic double-cutaway body is carved from mahogany and retains its lightweight, thin, beveled edge design. A set-in mahogany neck features a full, rounded 50?s style profile that will provide incomparable player comfort. The baked maple fingerboard is topped off with 22 frets and classic Gibson trapezoid-shaped inlays.
The electronics schematic remains true to the classic SG/Les Paul formula, with a pair Gibson USA Humbuckers, along with a 3-way switch. Each pickup has its own volume and tone controls. The Tune-O-Matic Bridge/stopbar tailpiece combo provides maximum tuning stability. Finally, a protective, Gibson hardshell case is included.
