Crossroads neck is Patent-Applied-For ALL THE WAY ! They look the same, but SOUND BETTER, and cost a LOT LESS ! What's more, un-like the originals, these sound great EVERY TIME ! This set of pickups was built to replicate the tone from the song "Crossroads" from Cream's "Wheels of Fire" album. They have been tested extensively in an SG, a Firebird, and a Les Paul. They absolutely NAIL that sound!
Their construction has been in the works for nearly a year at the behest of Michael Lawrence of the Contortions, Mikey, Gong/N.Y. Gong, National Health, World at a Glance, the U.S. "Surfin' with the Alien/Joe Satriani" tour, Rick Derringer. This is the tone that Mick has been chasing since he first heard the "Wheels of Fire" album when learning guitar. He finally found that sound with this superb set of pickups.
DarkBurst bridge These pickups were wound to the specs of Duane's "DarkBurst" (hence the name), his last axe. They are a slightly over-wound version of the Crossroads Set, and tonaly have a sound like Duane from "Eat a Peach", Free, Bloomfield's "Super Sessions," EVH's brown-sound, etc.
Priced the same as Fillmores or Crossroads, they are in a class all by themselves.

Gibson’s classic single-coil is known for big midrange when used clean, and chainsaw grind when pushing an amp hard. This pickup comes with adjustable poles and Alnico bar magnets in either black or cream (choose color at checkout). Wound with 42-gauge Plain Enamel wire to spec. Active humbuckers have a distinctive sound: powerful, clean, open sounding, with excellent harmonic overtones and very tight lows. This also fits the description of a great 7-string guitar pickup, if the problems associated with active pickups sterile sound and limited headroom could be eliminated. The Dimarzio DP719 D Activator 7 does just that. The neck model has both power and clarity the low B string stays solid and doesn't sound like mud with extreme overdrive, and the high strings sing all the way up the neck. And it doesn't need batteries.Recommended For: Neck. Can also be used in bridge position.Tech Talk: It's tough to get a clear tone from the low B string in the neck position without making the unwound strings sound brittle, and even harder with a high-output pickup. The two D Activator 7 coils are tuned to different frequencies that complement each other and allow the pickup to speak clearly, with the power concentrated in the most effective frequency range. Like all passive pickups, D Activators require controls with a minimum value of 250Kohms. 500K is the standard all around value, and the 1Megohm tone control is best for long cable runs. more information »
