This is a never used, legendary, Roland R-8 Drum machine - one of the best drum machines ever made. I purchased it brand new - with a brand new, custom-made, Calzone full ATA case - in 1998-1990 (from Zinno Music ) while working in CT. I am a guitarist and NEVER used it other than to play with the demos now and again. It was put away and lived in it's Calzone time-capsule case in a closet in our climate controlled home ever since.
It is in like-new/perfect condition. There is not a scratch on it. I plugged it in and connected it to my studio monitors today and it worked perfectly! I ran it through all of the demo songs from my collection of Sound Data ROM Cards which are also be included (see below).

The R8 comes with the original factory manual and a rare third-party Roland R5/R8 manual, "Roland R8 and R5 Drum Machines", by Dan Walker - with Jack Verga - Alexander Publishing, 1989. This book explains - in much more depth - the R8's functionality and how to get the best out of this superior drum machine. Both of these manuals are in very good to excellent condition.
Also included are 8 out of the 11 Sound Data ROM cards which were made for the R8:
