We now carry a wide variety of case latches that are great size replacements for the small drawbolt latches that came on many Lifton, Geib, Stone, and Ess + Ess cases from the 50's and 60's. 1996 Bill Comins Chester Avenue Archtop. This is Comins flagship guitar...this one was custom-ordered with a wide-flat (1962 Gibson style) neck and in the 16 inch size. L-5 scale length....25 inches. Sunburst finish.....Benedetto custom neck pickup.....flat dead mint with no play wear.....extravagant hand inlay work throughout.....ebony truss rod cover with inlay.......9 piece maple neck.......heavy flame on the back.....tight-grain choice solid hand-carved spruce top....ebony pickguard with controls on board.....Schaller tuners with ebony buttons.
This guitar is currently owned by Scot Buffington, the CEO of Evans Amplifiers. Bill made the guitar for Scot to use as a show piece at guitar and amp shows. The guitar has no play wear and is in PERFECT as-new condition....I cannot find a mark on it. It plays absolutely perfectly all the way up with super close action.
Recently set-up by Bill, who added a new innovation -- his new string holding system that is metal, mounted underneath the ebony fingerboard...this gives you the appearance of an ebony tailpiece with the sound of a metal Gibson tailpiece.
Case is original to the guitar and is a 5 ply HarpTone case....very heavy.......the case shows just a little edge wear from storage but is in great shape.....remember though, the guitar is flat dead mint with NO play wear!
This guitar is as close to perfection as you will find while walking on planet Earth. Serious jazz artists and discriminating collectors will be thrilled with this one.

This is a 1960 complete set of Grover pat pend tuners, with washers and ferrules. Correct for several late fifties to early 60's Gibson models, including the Les Paul Custom and Barney Kessel Custom. I believe some of the thinline models also used these.
This set is in beautiful condition...working perfectly....nice patina...some gold worn off. Just beautiful!
Set has the deeper script (older style) indented PAT PEND lettering. Also comes with the older 1959 style small Les Paul washers.

This is a set of two nickel drawbolt latches that are excellent size replacements for those found on vintage Gibson guitar cases....models SG, es335, Les Paul, Super 400, L-5, many more. Nickel latches are a very good match for the late 60s through early 70s cases. We have used these in our shop to restore many Gibson cases, with very good results. The nickel will 'gray' over time. Latches are approximately 2.25 inches in height, same size as the Gibson and Lifton latches.

Guard is the correct size for archtop acoustics with one floating pickup....these include the Citation, Johnny Smith, L-5, L-7, and Super 400 C. Also George Goebel L5 CT and L4.
Guard shows stunnning craftsmanship under the microscope...multiple binding is perfect. Guard is 1/8th inch thick and 8 inches long on the straight edge.
Gibson ordinarily used the confetti sheetstock on wine red and natural finishes...but it works fine on sunburst too (see detail pic below...guard is held against a sunburst finish on an Eastman guitar).
Guard would work great on most archtop acoustics including Gretsch Synchromatic and Epiphone Emperor. Perfect factory pickup route can be enlarged if your floating pickup is l;arger than the standard Gibson size.

This is a new Gibson reissue case handle. Beautiful construction and a perfect replacement for your tan 1950's through 1960's Gibson, Geib, Stone, and Lifton cases.
Excellent craftsmanship: This handle is constructed just like the original, with a solid metal frame and genuine leather wrap.
2 Ways to install:
1. Use the pre-existing hardware on your case...the handle is an exact fit. Comes with two axles which will give you a pro installation look. Axles are installed by ball-peining one end to create a 'burr'...this is how they are installed at the factory.
OR.......2. Use the hardware provided that is an exact replacement for many of the brown 50's cases. The new handle hardware is made permanent to the handle by tapping the axle into the clip, making it flush with the post. Also comes with two metal plates that go inside the case for greater stability. Excellent and stable system will last a lifetime.
Really nice piece to restore your case for that PAF guitar or 1940's archtop case....es-335, SG, Barney Kessel, Super 400, Byrdland, L5, 330, et al. ...or use it on your trumpet, violin, trombone cases!
