HISTORIC MODEL: ATTENTION COLLECTORS! - Limited first production run of 75 guitars for 2008, so get your's quick! The original prototype Gretsch® stereo guitar was created for Chet Atkins in '56 with the help of musician and electronics repairman from Cairo, Illinois, Ray Butts. Ray's ingenious split-dual-coil pickup was assembled on a prototype G6120 guitar. Only ONE was ever produced. Chet used this special, one-of-a-kind instrument on his ground breaking '57 album, "Finger-Style Guitar." Wired with two output jacks, the signal from the bass strings would run through the echo input on his amp while the treble strings were fed dry through the normal channel. Though at the time the concept of a "stereo" guitar was a brilliant idea, it was deemed impractical as the cost to produce it put it out of reach of the general buying public. The project was shelved -- until now. Whether you use two amps spread apart or record with a wide left/right pan, the results are mind blowing! Single cutaway laminated maple body, Gretsch orange finish, simulated F-hole inlays on top of body, 3-piece maple neck, 22 fret rosewood fingerboard with wide block pearloid inlays, 1-3/4" nut width, 24.6" scale length, specially designed TV Jones Dual-Coil mono/stereo neck pickup (stereo mode allows for E, A and D strings to be isolated from the G, B and E strings and each set sent to their own output jack), and a specially designed TV Jones Dual-Coil bridge pickup.
