There were some nasty, buzzy fuzz pedals made in the mid 1960s. Some examples are the Mosrite Fuzzrite, Maestro Fuzz Tone, Jordan Bosstone, Kay fuzz, etc. We found some super high gain germanium transistors in late 2006 that could be tuned to get those sounds so we are finally able to offer a few hundred of these pedals, which we named the PEPPERMINT FUZZ in tribute to the song INCENSE AND PEPPERMINTS which features this very sound.
The PEPPERMINT FUZZ is similar to a fuzzface in architecture but has specific tweeks to make it more flexible and sound much crazier.
True bypass, no loss of tone when off.
No Power jack or LED as these are detrimental to the ultimate fuzz in sound and battery life. Positive ground power. If you share a power supply with a normal pedal (negative ground), you will destroy the power supply. You can't use a daisy chain or a power supply with only one output but the PedalPower2 has all isolated outputs & would be safe.
Battery should be a cheap non-alkaline general purpose battery, as these sound better than an alkaline in this pedal, and even a cheap battery will last years since there is no LED.
For best sound, this effect should not have any buffers or non-true bypass effects between it and the guitar. But you can try other pedals before it for various effects.
Volume Knob (on the left) needs no explanation. Should be able to get nice and loud to kick up your amp.
Fuzz knob (on the right): Best to keep it up almost all the way up for craziest sounds. Turn it down for more normal fuzzface tones.
BUZZ knob: the knob in the center of the pedal. This allows controlling the sound of the fuzz from weak to hard edged fuzz. You can turn it down to get a warmer looser fuzz sound. Turning it up gets louder and harder. DOES NOT clean up when you back down your guitar, best to leave the guitar all the way up or just a BIT down for slightly different sounds. For Sitar like sounds, turn the buzz knob and fuzz knob up all the way. more information »

The MINI-CHORUS came out about a week before the BI-CHORUS and we sold all five we had made, to people who saw them on our FORUM. Two forumites sold their normal CLONES on ebay ($200 buy it now, both sold within hours!) to make more room on their pedalboards. The MINI-CHORUS is the same thing as our normal CLONE, but in a smaller, hand stamped box. It is the same size as our small comprossors/juicers, see that page for exact size. Same price as the normal Chorus, $225, as the box is a little cheaper but the extra labor to build the pedal into the small box is a lot more than the box savings. These have both battery and DC adaptor power, and the same board inside for the same sounds as the normal Chorus. Not available with options like Stereo or Depth Toggle, it's a great, simple, small chorus pedal with awesome tone! It is available with an external MIX (BLEND) knob though, for $25 more, as that will fit on the pedal no problem. The boxes on the mini chorus pedals came out looking great, really nice blue textured color.
We now have 18 different versions of our chorus pedal available if you count all the various options. We build them to order to your spec in just a few days. I dont think anyone else offers more than one or two versions of a chorus, so this is pretty unique and something that we can do since we are in effect a custom shop.
You can add an appropriate power supply for $15. You may also add wet/dry mix control with an Internal Mix Trimpot for an additional $10, or a Mix Control Knob for an additional $25. more information »

We now sell new Boss SD-1/808 pedals due to popular demand. Thes are brand new Boss pedals in the original box with manuals, with our various mods. Boss raised the price by $10 in late 2004, but we bought 100 so we could get the old price and not have to raise our prices.
We modify the Boss SD-1 Super Overdrive to basically Ibanez TS-808 specs, including the chip. This is the yellow pedal, not the orange DS-1 Distortion. The yellow SD-1 has the same basic design as a Tube screamer but with asymmetrical clipping. I can leave the clipping as-is (Boss style asymmetrical clipping) if you wish, but I normally change it to the Ibanez (symmetrical) style on my standard SD-1/808 mod. Ibanez told me that Roland (Boss) has a patent on asymmetrical clipping, which gives it a bit more volume, harmonics, and crunch. With Ibanez style clipping, it sounds very much like a TS-808, but still has a touch more edge and drive available. With Boss style, it gets yet a bit more volume, edge, and harmonics. The Brown option is standard on the SD-1 as it really helps to smooth out the sound.
Our SILVER mod is also available on the SD-1/808, by customer demand. I thought the silver mod would be too expensive for this pedal but people really like the Boss pedals (they are more reliable than the Ibanez). FROG from Elderly Instruments was the 1st, as his TS9/Silver switches were failing too often, so he requested the SD-1/808/Silver. He likes them a lot, so we have been doing more silvers for other people. We now install a super bright GREEN LED for this FROG mod (looks cool too!!). I miss Frog, I used to hear from him every several months when his TS9 switches would die, now he never calls...
We can also change the LEVEL pot to a PUSH PULL POT in order to switch from stock asymmetrical clipping to Ibanez style symmetrical clipping. This is a $25 additional option at time or pedal or mod order, or $40 to later add just the push pull pot to a pedal.

Features
If your tremolo sounds weak we have come up with a mod to improve the tone and make it stronger too. Stock, they lose some volume and tone when ON. We have tweeked it to sound just like the tremolo in my '66 Fender Deluxe Reverb amp. This mod changes out many of the cheap components and replaces them with better sounding components too, like our SILVER mod. The mod is $45 and is now on the mod form.
We now put a small TRIM POT inside the pedal so you can set the exact volume you want when the pedal is ON. We set it (and mark it) to the same volume ON and OFF, you can bump it up even more if you want the tremolo to stand out. This mod does not increase the hiss like most other TR-2 mods.
We got this note from a customer who bought every tremolo on the market (price is no object) and liked the stock TR-2 quite well, deciding to send it to us for some finishing :
The TR-2 arrived on Saturday and I cannot stop playing it! It sounds better than the "boutique trems" and is so much quieter, richer, fuller than the stock pedal-definitely a keeper! And it will be on its way to Bob Bradshaw by weeks end for inclusion in my rack system which I hope to receive sometime this century.
We now stock new TR-2 pedals with our SUPER mod for $135 or we can Modify your pedal.

The Maxon OD-9 introduced in the summer of '02, is a TS9 (looks exactly the same) with the correct JRC4558D chip, and it had a DPDT switch replacing the FET switching. This early OD-9 had "normal" bypass like an old 70s pedal but does not suck much tone when OFF. Since it is an exact TS9 circuit, we offer the same mods on the OD-9, either the CLASSIC or the SILVER mod, along with KWS option. In about 2004 they changed to an actual 4PDT true bypass switch. This OD-9 should not be confused with the original 1984 Ibanez OD-9 which was not a tube screamer circuit (and very rare, I want one!)
The OD-9 board has many parts removed in preparation for our SILVER mod. Much of it's TS9 circuit board is emptied because it no longer uses the TS9s FET switching. So there is less circuitry in your signal path for a clearer, purer tone. I recommend the OD-9 over the TS9 for best tone both ON and OFF. The true bypass switch is a little different feeling from a Boss or Ibanez switch. Like all true bypass pedals it goes down and back up to switch, unlike a momentary switch which just sends a pulse when you touch it.
The Maxon is made in the same factory that made the TS-808 pedals in the late 1970s and early 1980s. We are not sure where the new TS9 pedals are now made but they stopped saying MAXON in them in 2002. See our Tube Screamer history page for more info.
KWS Tour Survival Option
Kenny Wayne Shepherd has been using my modified TS9s for years. I have come up with a KWS option to survive the abuse that occurs to pedals on the road. ($15) I beef-up the mechanical attachments of the various components so you or Kenny can't break them! Things like the pots, jacks, and even the circuit board can break loose with heavy use. This mod will keep those parts in place. This option more than doubles the time it takes us to do the 808 mod.
I can also add the KWS knob settings if you so request. We put black marks on the pedal for each knob setting like he does. more information »
