Supro Lap Steel and Amp Set, Excellent $850.00

SKU: ULB28917
ULB28917 This is just about the coolest little lap steel set that we've seen in years! Although the set bears no name plates, it's pretty safe to say that this was made in the same factory as the Supro models. The lap steel is a graceful "Spanish" shape with single pickup with volume and tone controls placed on either side of the pickup. The matching amp continues the less-is-more approach with single volume control, 1x6" field coil speaker. Ultra hip and seldom seen! Original faux alligator chipboard case for lap steel included. more information »

1958 Gibson RB-100, Excellent $1,950.00

SKU: UBB30546
UBB30546 The RB100 was made alongside the RB250 Mastertone with the same construction. The RB100 differed in that it did not have the Mastertone style tone ring and had simple dot inlay on the unbound fretboard. But savvy pickers know that with the addition of a Mastertone tone ring (such as the Kulesh ring installed here) you have a "stealth" Mastertone with all the punch and power at a reduced price. Our theory (also held by such banjo gurus as Tony Pass) is that the wood rim, the aged hard rock Maple rim, is part of the secret to the tone. The Maple rim in this banjo is almost 60 years old, and when combined with a superior tone ring, proves to be a superb tone machine. This has the tone and power pickers love. With original hard case. more information »

Hiwatt Anniversary Half Stack, Brand New $3,700.00

SKU: NAB27702
NAB27726/27702 ~~~ LIMITED EDITION OF 40 WORLDWIDE ~~~: This limited edition Hiwatt 50 watt half stack is a recreation of the earliest split-logo Hiwatt amplifiers produced by Dave Reeves. It features a split-chassis design with the control panel mounted to the top of the cabinet, 3 channels (Normal, Brilliant and Presence) with separate Master volume controls, Treble and Bass controls. The Presence control has an Intesity knob to shape the tone. This early circuit has a bit more gain to the sound while maintaining it's clarity. Also included is the matching limited edition 2x12 cabinet with closed back. From what we gather, this particular example is very likely the VERY FIRST of the batch!!! This killer looking and sounding set is going to be very hard to find in the US......if you can find them at all! (MSRP $5599) more information »

Gibson RB-170, Excellent $1,000.00

SKU: UBB33774
UBB33774 The invention of the 5 string banjo is shrouded in folklore with varying accounts of how it came to be. However, the long neck version is definitely the creation of Mr. Pete Seeger. Years ago Mr. Seeger found that his voice sounded best about 3 frets below standard banjo tuning. He took his banjo to Mr. John D'Angelico in New York City where the famed guitar maker added 3 more frets to Mr. Seeger's banjo. When the great folk group fad hit in the '50s and '60s, you couldn't show yourself on stage with a standard necked instrument. No, it had to be the long neck version with a capo at the 3rd fret, because goodness knows, you wouldn't actually play in the lower register. Vega, Gibson, Ode, and many other makers jumped on the long neck bandwagon and began to churn out extended neck varieties. Some have found their way into dusty closets, others have been passed down to generations who regard them as curiosities and shrug their shoulders and move on. However, if you pick the banjo and have a voice in the second tenor range, then climb on board with James Norman Connor, Dick Weissman, Alex Hassilev and others and embrace your folk roots. With original chipboard case. more information »

1967 Other Barbero Classic, Excellent $1,500.00

SKU: UGB31570
UGB31570 Even though this instrument bears the name of one of the most renowned instrument makers, Marcelino Barbero, it was in fact not made by him. At one time, a rather less than scrupulous distributor in Chicago had the marketing idea of creating labels to put inside guitars that took the names of famous makers and players in order to bolster sales (see the Ramirez "Segovia mode"l also listed here). So it came to pass that these same folks took advantage of the burgeoning Japanese classical makers and had "replica" guitars made by some of the more outstanding makers that bore their special labels. This instrument, most likely made by Shiro Arai (founder of Aria Guitars) is but one of many such guitars. However, despite its somewhat dubious parentage, it is an exceptional instrument. A 40+ year old hand crafted guitar with very fine wood selection. Truly worthy of some of the praise heaped upon the original. The guitar has a wonderful voice, nicely balanced, and is capable of a variety of tones. Definitely worth playing. With hard case. more information »
