2008 Fender Custom Shop David Gilmour Stratocaster, Excellent $3,699.00

SKU: R43905
Description: 2008 Fender Custom Shop David Gilmour Black Relic Stratocaster & Original hard shell case with all original accessories. David Gilmour's Black Stratocaster is one of the most coveted instruments in Rock and Roll history. The guitar is responsible for the amazing tones heard on a number of Pink Floyd's classic albums, such as Dark Side of the Moon and Animals. This Stratocaster was created by the Fender Custom Shop in collaboration with Gilmour and his guitar technician Phil Taylor to recreate replicas of the instrument Gilmour has played throughout his career. The electronics on this Strat are what really makes this guitar unique. The neck pickup is a custom wound Fat '50s Strat single-coil, the middle is a custom wound single-coil Strat pickup, and the bridge is a Seymour Duncan SSL-5 single-coil Strat pickup. The pickup selector is a 5-way, and in between the Volume and Tone knob is a little notch that adds the neck pickup in the 1, 2 and 3 positions of the selector switch. This gives the tone a very unique sound that adds a bit of mids, it's great for solos or coloring up your tone a bit.  more information »

The bridge volume control pot has been changed, because the original wore out, but the original is included with the guitar. Set Up: Professionally set up by our guitar tech. The original Bigsby tailpiece was attached slightly askew at the factory so when the strings lay across the fingerboard they are shiftedy slightly bass-side. Our tech put a small shim in the tailpiece & used double-sided tape to keep the Rocking Bar bridge in place. That seems to have done the trick & the guitar plays fine. Playability / Sound: Nice, low action; smooth playing neck - very comfortable. The guitar plays fine now since our tech did a good set up job. Gorgeous FilterTron humbucker tones! Case: Original hardshell case included. PLEASE CONTACT OUR VINTAGE & USED SPECIALIST JOHN MAJDALANI WITH ANY QUESTIONS more information »
