This is a Breedlove Custom Shop C20-12 String Guitar. All Breedlove instruments are known for their great quality, beautiful woods and craftsmanship especially the Custom Shop Models. However in virtually every guitar magazine poll taken the Breedlove 12 string is considered special.
This particular one happens to be exceptionally beautiful as well. It has a Mahogany body with a striking fine grained Redwood top with Bloodwood Master Class Bindings and Herringbone purfling all along the body and edges of the neck. The neck is Mahogany with an Ebony fretboard and a set of 12 Gold Grovers for tuners.
The rosette is a wide circle of Mother of Pearl that offsets the dark Redwood magically. The Redwood top is not only beautiful, but gives the instrument a wonderful tone. This is a Warrior Custom Shop creation with a creative use of different types of exotic woods. It is a Rick Derringer Model solid body single cutaway design with Spalted Maple top. The body has been laminated with Burled Maple on the back and Walnut in between. When the body was sculpted it revealed the different textures and colors of the various woods in an artfull manner that makes this one a one of a kind instrument.
It has a three pickup arrangement with matching Spalted Maple covers and control knobs. A lot of guitar manaufacturers are offering Spalted Maple tops nowadays, but this one defies comparison. The neck is made of exceptional Flamed Maple with an Ebony fretboard. Only the photos can describe the inlay work adorning the fretboard. It is a scene of a dragon, over the devil hmself being slain by a winged knight. The inlay incorporates every color in the rainbow and continues for the length of the fretboard.
The Flamed Maple neck has a wide Purple Heart strip down the center that runs through the head stock. There you will find Rick derringer's signiture. This is a unique Custom Shop design from the Warrior Guitars craftsmen that has again taken the art of instrument design to a new level even for them. In this instrument they began with a beautiful piece of Exotic Maple Burl on the top and back of a unique body combination of 5 different ornately beautiful woods. When the sculpted single cutaway body was carved it revealed the layers of different woods in a Kaleidoscope of color and shapes.
This time they mated a beautiful Birdseye Maple neck to the Maple Burl body and let the texture of the birdseye figuring show through on the fretboard. The headstock is done in matching Maple Burl with Black and Gold Sperzel locking tuners. The Birdseye Maple fretboard is then lovingly decorated with multicolored Mother of Pearl throughout the length of the entire neck in an intricate Vine of Life design. The entire guitar is then covered in clear coat finish that makes the Inlay work absolutely luminesant.
As with all Warrior Custom Shop creations they are more than the sum of their parts, uniquely beautiful for sure, but when played they come to life. The incredible speed and fast action of the Birdseye Maple neck is the same at the higher frets as it is anywhere along the neck. The combination of an aged Exotic Maple Burl top and Solid Birdseye Maple neck contribute to the guitars sustain combined with Seymour Duncan Custom pickups. This is another beautiful example of what the Warrior Custom Shop continues to produce. This is a solid body double cutaway design with a beautiful Flamed Maple top, flamed Maple binding and an unusual Burst colored finish. I want to call it Honey but that does not truely describe it. What ever color it is I love it.
This is a through neck design that seamlessly blends into the body. They chose to leave the neck natural and oiled which is a nice contrast as the photos show. The feel of this Mahogany and Purple Heart neck with its oiled finish is sweet.It has dual humbuckers with Gold covers and hardware. The rosewood fretboard has small Pearl ovals offset down the neck. This is the most amazing all Tube Amp around. If you are a fan of classic Marshall Amps then you will love this animal. Starting out customizing old Marshall Amps, Splawn now makes their own products and what an amp they make. The new "Qucik Rod" from Splawn is a Marshall like amp with some very desirable features. This head is powered at 100 watts and switchable to 50 watts.
It comes with a clean channel with independent EQ for Rhythm and a Lead channel with solo Boost. It has a 3 position Mode switch on the overdrive channel for selecting the different voicing. The Mode switch is comprised of 1st Gear for a Hot Rod Plexi, 2nd gear for a Hot Rod 800 sound, and 3rd Gear for a Super Hot Rod 800 sound.
The Overdrive channel has an OD1/OD2 footswitch function which gives you a gain setting for Rhythm and Lead sounds. It also comes with an effects loop and half power switch (100W/50W). The three button footswitch functions are #1 Clean & overdrive, #2 OD1 & OD2, and #3 Solo Boost.
The amp is available equipped with either EL34's or JJKT77's. The cabinet is wrapped in a custom Plexi Red and Gold color. Here is another great Phoenix Rising model from McNaught. This time it has a Diamond Quilt maple top with a natural Clear finish that really shows off the depth of this amazing top. It is equipped with all Gold hardware with the body and neck bound in Quilt Maple. The headstock has matching Quilt Maple and comes with Gold Sperzel Locking tuners.
The fretboard is done in Indian Rosewood with artfully done Mother of Pearl Pyramid shaped inlay. This guitar comes with a solid set neck that securly attaches the neck to the body. Some manufacturers offer varying degrees of a set neck instead of bolting the neck on, but the length and size of a McNaught neck can only be described as massive, and the amount of sustain and tone you get is a direct result.
This instrument is equipped with Duncan Antiquity pickups and an LR Baggs Piezo acoustic system with preamp. This combination provides all kinds of sonic variation and allows you to easily switch or blend the electric and acoustic tones for just the right sound you are looking for. This is another example of the Warrior craftsmen experimenting with different exotic wood combinations. In this case we have a laminate of various woods and colors with dramatic results. The through neck design is made of Walnut and Purple Heart surrounded by a body of Maple capped with Redwood on the top and bottom.
When the bass's shape is sculpted it reveals portions of the laminate exposing various woods and allowing the vibrant colors to play off each other. The Revera Fandango 212 55-watt amp features the bigger voice of two Celestion G12T-75 speakers in a gorgeous and deep cabinet. A fabulous 5-12AX7 preamp section with a lead channel like the Revera Knucklehead Reverb, coupled with a powerhouse of EL-34 Watts and Celestion speakers, housed in a lust-full cabinet makes "Twin Killer" take on a new meaning. These amps are capable of handling practically any size gig. Like almost all Revera amps (except the TBR and M/S Series) the Preamp Tubes are powered by a DC filament power supply, lowering all AC filament caused hum. This costly feature will help to ensure that in the case of a need to service and change the 12AX7 tubes, a host of different manufacturers devices may be used without fear of increased hum (many 12AX7's have filament designs that cause hum in AC filament powered tube guitar amps, like most Fender, Marshall, and Mesa Boogie models).
The 100+ watt Output stage features 4 matched EL-34's with massive output transformers from the Knucklehead Reverb. An impedance selector located on the rear panel for 4, 8, 16 ohm loads allows correct matching with any internal and external combination of speaker loads. Also, bottom end response is greatly enhanced by this massive piece of iron and copper audiophile quality output transformer. A Line output jack is also provided for sending line level signals to PA Mixers, Recording devices, or to slave to another amp. Another great Revera feature is the standby-switch built into the speaker jack #1. This means that in the instance of inadvertently operating the amp without a load plugged into the speaker jack, you will not fear damaging the output transformer and Tubes/Tube Sockets. This allows easy idle current measurement by a qualified technician when bias adjustment is necessary (all Revera amps have an internal bias potentiometer provided). This is a Rick Derringer Model unique to the Warrior Custom Shop with one of the most unusual Burl Maple tops I have seen. The top and neck are sanded and oiled to a polished condition that brings out even more of the beauty of this guitar.
With matching Burl knobs and headstock, five position selector switch and Gold hardware (frets too) that includes locking tuners, the list of features goes on and on. Exceptionally light for a single cutaway body but it feels solid and confortable next to the body. This particular Froggy Bottom Guitar is called an MK-Std for the M Body and K for Koa. Koa because of the amazing Flamed Koa used on the body and Std, for standard, because it has few adornments with the exception of the Pearl Frog inlay in the headstock that is the company trade mark.
Once you look at the photos you may disagree with the term standard for this guitar. Any instrument with Flamed Koa like this guitar has does not need anything else. The tone and volume from this small concert sized instrument is exceptional. The intonation is perfect and the sound is extremely balanced with even mid range and good bass. This may be the perfect guitar for finger picking styles, but I love it for all round enjoyment. Trust me I have lots of guitars but this one is always out of the case and ready to go.
