This is a new OEM reproduction 1968-style Gibson case handle that is a glove fit for most 1968-1974 Les Paul cases. May be correct for other cases of the late sixties when a handle with square shoulders is called for. Good quality handle is the same size and dimensions the original Les paul handle. Comes with four TKL mounting rivets for an easy pro installation, shown below.
You can use the mounting hardware attached to the handle, or the hardware that may still be mounted to your case. (Two new axles are available at extra cost...this allows you to retain the original case hardware).
Standard Gibson sizing will fit many cases from the sixties: measuring from center of leg to center leg = 4.25 inches. SEE PIC - comparison with broken 60s Gibson handle...exact size match.

BOOK: "How To Play Chordal Bebop Lines, For Guitar". Published in 2005. THIS BOOK HAS BEEN RECEIVING RAVE REVIEWS!!! This is not a book of transcribed solos....it is a method book for the development of an improvisational style where you can play bebop lines in chords.....like Wes did. The cover says: "A guide for developing a chordal vocabulary for improvisation. Written with the styles of Wes Montgomery, Cal Collins, and Barney Kessel in mind". In the introduction, the author makes the following comment....."There are many books which deal with chord forms, comping, and chord-melody playing, but these do not provide a vocabulary for the kind of harmonized soloing that Wes and others have done. In "How to Play Chordal Bebop Lines" the goal is to develop a vocabulary for improvising in lines of chords." Table of contents reflects chapters dealing with commonly used voicings, chord scales, and inversions of many types of chords, leading to section 2 of the book which is actual phrases and patterns in chords....(much like Jerry Coker's Patterns for jazz, only the lines are in chords, for guitar.) Melodic lines, in chords, are written with a melody line and a fret diagram underneath each melody note. Poor readers can beneftit greatly from this style of writing. Book is 80 pages in length with nice spiral binding. This text is a must for the student who is exploring chordal improvisation in the Wes style. Gibson Custom Shop pickguard factory cut for one floating pickup (JBJ size). It has not been previously installed. Mint new condition.
Guard is the correct size for archtop acoustics with one floating pickup....these include the Citation, Johnny Smith, L-5, L-7, and Super 400 C. Also George Goebel L5 CT and L4.
Guard shows stunnning craftsmanship under the microscope...multiple binding is perfect. Guard is 1/8th inch thick and 8 inches long on the straight edge.
Gibson ordinarily used the confetti sheetstock on wine red and natural finishes...but it works fine on sunburst too (see detail pic below...guard is held against a sunburst finish on an Eastman guitar).
Guard would work great on most archtop acoustics including Gretsch Synchromatic and Epiphone Emperor. Perfect factory pickup route can be enlarged if your floating pickup is l;arger than the standard Gibson size.

SHOP TALK -- The split rivets will install with normal hand-tools...I get a pro look every time...just bend the tabs back a little with needle nose pliers then tap the tabs flat against the surface with a small hammer...this gives a rock solid and tight bond....oftentimes this is tighter than from the TKL factory!
