This little amp pack a pretty serious wallop in a small package. Designed for a player looking for a more crunchy, overdriven sounds at medium to lower volumes. If you are looking for clean tones with headroom to spare, this is not it.
It has 2 unique controls:
Grip: This 4 position control has two uses, a preamp gain boost to increase the presence of the sound, and a power-section cathode bias to increase sharpness and edge. The preamp operates with greater and greater gain from settings 1 to 3, then setting 4 combines maximum preamp gain with the pwer section cathode bypass circuit for a sharper edge.
Impact: This four position selector lets you increase the brighness and punch of the amp as the setting is increased from 1 to 4. Setting 2 adds brightness while setting 3 and 4 extend into the midrange as well, providing even more punch.
The tones range from gritty overdrive to full on crunch. It is powerful enough for small clubs, rehearsal and jam sessions, yet the amp still provides a very musical distortion at lower levels. If you already own a Rambler, a Hammerhead can be added for a most rightous small venue rig.

With dual channels – each with its own Gain and Volume controls – and growling tube tone, the VOX Bulldog Distortion pedal adds extra bite to your fret burning maneuvers. Gain 1 dishes out vintage distortion while Gain 2 packs a more modern, aggressive sound with slightly scooped mids. Both are adjustable from subtle to completely over the top. A Bass control adds extra low end thump at extreme settings and a warm, round mellowness at lower settings. And with the Gain 2 Voice control you can independently tailor the second channel’s hell-raising tone.
