Probably Ted Megas' largest hollowbody archtop, the 18" Athena- actually measure slightly larger. Ted Megas, now of Portland, Oregon, but previously of San Francisco (where this beauty was made), is world-renowned for the detail and craftsmanship of his guitars. This guitar, made in 1996, is a prime specimen of his art. Spruce and maple, the finish is a dark sunburst which positively glows. Large style F holes which are reminiscent of the Gypsy Style Jazz guitars of today. Very clear focused tone acoustically and amplified through the Kent Armstrong floating full humbucker pickup. There is a full description of his Athena on his website, which matches this guitar with the exception lacking inlays in the fingerboard. This one is in near-perfect condition, except for a crack on the top which has been repaired by the masters at Rudy's Music Stop of NYC and is now both cosmetically and acoustically invisible. more information »
