Myself (Adam Grimm, owner of Satellite Amplifiers) and a good friend of mine (Eric Sorensen, http://www.espwave.com decided to create a collaborative project to give something back to the world. I have a few of Eric's paintings and really enjoyed his work, and thought it would be wonderful on an amplifier.
I sent Eric one of our standard Helion model amplifiers and an uncovered head box. He asked me what I wanted, and I told him I didn't want to know. I wanted him to have free creative rein to do whatever he wanted to do. He did a marvelous job.
The amplifier is one of our standard Helion models. It is a 25 watt all tube amplifier. It consists of a pair of 5881 power tubes, a pair of 12AX7s in the preamp section and a 5AR4 rectifier (switchable to solid state). The amp comes with high and low inputs, and a switchable 4, 8, and 16Ω outputs. The amp uses Mercury Magentics transformers (as do all of our amplifiers), turret board and point to point wiring, carbon comp resistors. You can find more info about our amplifiers at http://www.satelliteamps.com
