Gibson Custom Shop Jimmy Page Signature Double Neck

by Premier Guitar

Throughout the ‘70s heyday of Led Zeppelin, Jimmy Page’s majestic ‘71 EDS-1275 Double Neck was a fixture of the band’s legendary live show

Gibson Custom Shop Jimmy Page Signature Double Neck The guitar was a masterpiece. The guitarist was a genius. The song was a classic. Now, the sound remains the same.

Throughout the ‘70s heyday of Led Zeppelin, Jimmy Page’s majestic ‘71 EDS-1275 Double Neck was a fixture of the band’s legendary live show. Just the sight of the iconic, distinctive SG Double Neck, slack-slung across Jimmy’s hips, spellbound audiences and elicited their howling approval. Then released in extremely limited quantities, the exquisite cherry guitar enabled Page to move fluidly from top 12-string to bottom 6-string, from bridge to monolithic guitar solo, during live performances of Zeppelin’s magnum opus, “Stairway to Heaven,” as well as epic classics like “The Song Remains the Same,” and “Rain Song.”

Following the overwhelming success of the Jimmy Page Signature Les Paul, released by Gibson in 2004, the Jimmy Page Signature Double Neck was a natural undertaking for the Gibson Custom Shop. For this limited release, Jimmy’s original ’71 EDS-1275 has been painstakingly reconstructed by the world-class luthiers at Gibson’s Custom Shop.

The weathered Heritage Cherry finish is unique to the new model, and the authentic look will be further enhanced on 25 Limited Edition Aged Double Necks with custom aging by Gibson Custom’s renowned luthier Edwin Wilson. The Limited Edition Aged model matches Page’s original EDS-1275 ding for ding, even wearing down the wing repeatedly struck by the buttons on his stage costumes. Page himself has signed, numbered, and played each of the 25 Limited Edition models, and will personally supervise a run of 250 with the Custom Authentic treatment.

The Jimmy Page Signature Double Neck comes with a specially designed Custom Shop case, certificate of authenticity, custom care kit, acclaimed two- DVD box set Led Zeppelin, and a copy of a private interview with Jimmy regarding the Double Neck.
