Unique Looks and Prominent Sound

Teye Guitars As a professional guitarist first and foremost, Teye, the driving force behind Teye guitars, builds guitars from a uniquely player-centric perspective. Well-versed in both electric and flamenco playing, Teye’s guitars grew out of his desire for a guitar that would be able to give every sound he could wish for, called up from a simple and traditional control switchboard (so he could switch in the middle of an improvised solo); that would be totally responsive to his playing; and that would convince audiences of his serious intentions even before he had played a single note.

Teye borrows from his background in classical and flamenco guitar when designing, resulting in a strong, musical guitar- even before electronics are added. He emphasizes experimentation and listening when designing his guitars, as he believes that theory only serves to gather ideas as to what might work well in a given situation.

Teye’s guitars revel in being the center of attention. This result is driven by the attention paid to each component, and how they work together to enhance the tone. The guitars are tuned so that each note bears equal prominence and the ring of the mahogany shines through.

The electronics of a Teye guitar set his guitars apart as especially unique, as they are wired, in his words, “completely backwards.” Teye uses Jason Lollar humbucking pickups that feed straight into the amp – the only traditional wiring he uses. Teye’s distinctive construction provides for an array of tones, some of which he says are only attainable from a Teye guitar. The guitars use a multi-decked, five-position cheese-cutter switch, and an unorthodox resistor/capacitor layout to allow tones ranging from ‘70s rock guitar sounds to Nashville twang to the wail, growl, and out-of-phase sounds of Hendrix and beyond.

Teye’s two models, the Electric Gypsy La India and La Mora, feature mahogany bodies and necks, ebony fingerboards with mother-of-pearl inlay, three Lollar special humbuckers, Grover or Planet Waves tuners, and aircraft-grade aluminum engraved tops and headstocks. La India features chrome plated parts and a Mexican turquoise outline, while La Mora features a black anodized engraved top with an ebony mosaic outline and gold plated parts. Both are available in right or left handed versions.

I've talk to Teye many times and it seems that he has taking time to make a guitar that is of such quality....that only few can compare to. Hope to see many more creations from him.
