Taylor Road Show: Solid Body Demo

Premier Guitar April 2008

Ft. Wayne, IN, (April 9, 2008) - We were On Location in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, as the Taylor Guitars Road Show made a stop at Sweetwater Music. In this video, Taylor's Brian Swerdfeger demos the Solid Body guitar in three different amps: a VOX Heritage AC30, an EVH 5150III and a Fender Twin. The guitar adapts to each amp's style really well.

It sounds like a tele with duncans and a broken tone pot.

My Paul sounds better but can't adapt as well from amp to amp. Its all Paul all the time. I was surprised to hear that what he was talking about

I agree with Dakota to some extent. Plugging a squier strat into a Vox and then into an EVH half stack is definitely going to give some different tones. Nothing special here with the Taylor solidbody. Any guitar with good hummers, especially split, will give alot of tonal varieties as well. I did like the tone control, with it rolled off. very nice sound. Will definitely try to check out

Well, hell!! I'm going to have to be real nice to the old lady (I'm always nice to her anyway LOL). Saving my dimes and quarters. It should sound sweet with my Blues Junior!

I was just at a Taylor Road Show in a small music shop last week. Up close and personal, the solid body Taylors definitely have both an ability to mimic some already familiar flavors, and a capacity for some flavors all their own. A very adaptable guitar, and one that pairs very well with a wide range of amps. They also play like a dream. If you're able to catch one of the road shows, the guys from Taylor arrive with some limited editions with truly beautiful woods and finishes. It's worth catching.

The previous writer has obviously not played a Taylor solidbody. They have a very unique tone palette that comes through in all the amps. Imagine a Gibson Les Paul played through the same amps--the two guitars are nothing aliken in terms of sound. The Taylors are a new addition to the world of electric guitar tonalities.

The guitar could have been anything.
Changing amps had more to do with the variety of tonal characteristics than the whitebread guitar did.
