i like playing amon amarth on the 7 string or bodom, it converts pretty well. Also, dream theater/petrucci and nevermore/loomis is great seven string working. Especially loomis with his super shred sweeps.

death metal bands are like origin, death, and possessed. korn and slipknot are nu-metal, and korn is a little metalcore too.

Seriously... Korn and Slipknot aren't Death Metal, and not even close. Don't ever embarass my good metal again by comparing them to nu-metal.

The seven string is a great instrument and needs more attention. Not only is it good for metal, but exercises like this show the possibilities applicable to jazz and even slide.
