Combining Upper and Lower Neighbor Tones
from Targeting Chord Tones II by Mark Dziuba

If you're not yet familiar with the concept of neighbor tones, check out the lesson on that subject because in this lesson I'll be talking about combining upper and lower neighbor tones together to embellish or ornament chord tones. When you apply this idea, the melodic line practically writes itself. I'll show you how to combine upper and lower diatonic and non-diatonic neighbors by providing some clear examples from some of my improvisation transcriptions. And away we go!
