Hello Premier Guitar readers and welcome to Lethal Guitar! Thanks for logging on and tuning in. We’re advancing our way through my series on sweep picking and we’re gaining momentum. In this lesson let’s explore some new shapes that are a bit more challenging than those covered in the previous issues. While keeping our focus on the major, minor, and diminished modes the fingerings will be more difficult. The shapes covered in this lesson will harmonize nicely with the ones in Sweep Picking 101 and 201 so be sure and try them out in that context. Off we go…

Example 1: The 3-string major arpeggio in C.

Listen

Example 2: The 4-string major arpeggio in C.

Listen

Example 3: Now the 6-string major arpeggio in C.

Listen

Example 4: Next the 3-string minor arpeggio in Cm.

Listen

Example 5: The 4-string minor arpeggio in Cm.

Listen

Example 6: Now the 6-string minor arpeggio in Cm.

Listen

Example 7: The 3-string diminished arpeggio in C.

Listen

Example 8: The 4-string diminished arpeggio in C.

Listen

Example 9: Now the 5-string diminished arpeggio in C.

Cool beans! We’re well on our way, gaining some serious ground in the development of our sweeping ability. These new shapes can be a bit more challenging but well worth the effort. Don’t forget they harmonize with the shapes in the 101 and 201 lessons so be sure and give them a try, you’ll be glad you did. Practice these slowly at first, use a metronome and a clean tone. See you next month in Lethal Guitar
