Great review of a fantastic event! I should point out an error in the report however concerning the "presentation of an orange Gretsch 3120 from Fender President James Pennybaker." The guitar was a Brian Setzer Model 6120 and Mr. Pennebaker (me!) is NOT Fender's President. I am their artist relations representative in Nashville, TN. Fender's President is Bill Mendello.

Your comments regarding the show and its performers was right on target. I was there. My fourth JB festival and my second year as a volunteer. James Burton is the real deal. As Christians, he and his family, don't just talk, they walk the walk too. Their love for God, family and kids is simply awesome.

I will put this show on my list to see next year. James is one of my all time favorites when it come to guitar pickers.

Why not issue a DVD of the day to sell? It would allow those of us who couldn't be there to see and hear the music and raise more money for the Burton Foundation. Good luck with this. It's a great cause.

The photos were great, but it would have been nice to actually have seen a video with sound.

It's held every year around's JB's birthday (August 21st). It was held as a "one-off" in 2005; due to popular demand (artists who couldn't make it the first time) it happened again in 2007, now it's a yearly event.
Two guys from France traveled all the way to Shreveport, LA on the chance to meet their idol, Steve Lukather, from Toto. Not only did they get to meet him, they got photos of a lifetime! All the artists wanted to hang out with their fans. It was a great time for all. It will be bigger and better next year. Try to make it if you can.
