Doug Kauer showed us a prototype of his Daylighter hollowbody model. It features a fully-carved Eastern maple back (his Daylighters typically have a flat Spanish cedar back) and a 4" Spanish cedar core block which is attached to the Spanish cedar top. Kauer describes the guitar as having 60-70% more internal volume. Initially, Kauer was disappointed because he was hoping the guitar would be somewhat ES-175-ish, but he was happy to discover the guitar is very much like an ES-335.
