Great list but consider Rock N Roll Vintage in Chicago for the next version. Great shop on the north side offering vintage and used guitars for players rather than hard core collectors although they do have a few collector guitars as well. The site is www.rocknrollvintage.com.

Nice shop and very nice inventory for a brand new store. But look seriously at Craig's Music, Inc. in Weatherford, Texas as a contender in the "Best Of". Craig has been buying selling and trading Vintage Guitars and Amps since 1964. He opened his first brick and mortar store in 1978 and now occupies a 10,000 sq. ft. guitar filled store, complete with a performance stage. BTO and Signature Taylors, Martins, PRS, Vintage Gibson's and more. Mesa Boogies, Vox, Marshall, Fender line the floor. A pilgramage made by people from all over the world.

Finally made the drive over to Guitar Sanctuary in McKinney, TX today... I've been to many on these lists and Guitar Sanctuary sets the bar for a comfortable experience! Absolute class act, guys! Thanks for letting me drool on the premises for awhile! See you at the Dallas Guitar Festival.

Coincidence that the handle of the person trashing the zoo is "GC"? I think not...

sorry correction - re: The Music Zoo the guitars are not set-up, they might be before shipping but not for walk-ins.

you lost credibility having the music zoo. I live near it. Their service is terrible, they have major attitudes, it's too small and the guitars and not set=up. The do mostly internet sales.

After reading this article, I would be remiss if I did not comment. In my personal experience, there are only three things worth living for. One, of course, is a good *******, another is visiting Richard Nixon's grave and the third is a visit to the guitar store that sets the standard for what is possible when, like Buddha, you finally enter Nirvana. That level of euphoria occurs at a shop in Staten Island, NY, daily, when visitors like George Harrison to Jimmy Buffett to Christopher Guest, to, um, me, walk into the "Dream Fulfillment Center" commonly known as Mandolin Bros. I have personally purchased guitars there and have had fantastic experiences every time I have been there. Please amend your list to include this "experience maker" !
