Robert Morency's JCM 800
Robert got this 50-watt Marshall JCM 800 from a friend in bad shape and barely working. After fixing the sound, but leaving the aesthetics, he proceeded to use it with his trio, Unkle Groove. "After a few weeks, I thought that this amazing sounding amp needed a little more TLC," Robert explained. He cut strips out of old Spiderman comics, made a new faceplate, and wrote the settings on with Sharpie to complete the comic book feel. "I've been gigging with it regularly since a few years and have never had any problem with it," he says. "Proof that you don't need to spend thousands on a boutique amp to get your sound and be different."
