Goodsell Black Series
These little black beasts differ from their predecessors mainly in the sourcing of the cabinets and cosmetic parts. “Most of the visible parts come from China, but the heart and soul—Warehouse Guitar Speakers, Magnetic Components output transformers, and handmatched Electro-Harmonix tubes—are the same a before. So is the actual assembly, which is still handwired point-to-point by me alone at my shop in Atlanta,” says Goodsell’s Richard Goodsell. The Super 17 is based on the MkIII, but loses the 5/17 switch and gains a tube rectifier. The Dominatrix, as well as the Unibox and Valpreaux, carry over unchanged, except for dramatic reductions in the street price—all amps are under $1500. And for those that want it, the Goodsell color versions will still be available on a build-to-order basis, but for as much as $500 more.
