So does Gibson get the guitars when the artist is done or does the artist keep them?

I was wondering when someone would get around to doing 18th century-style woodcarving on a guitar. I really like this guy's work.

James is a great artist and a really good guy. Met him at a Gibson event at The Music Zoo on Long Island NY and he was gracious and very informative with his ideas about art.
