Reader Hot Rod Guitars 2012, Part 1
Tyler Fitz
Tyler Fitz built this guitar from parts back in April. It's a mix between EVH's original Fender Frankenstrat and the later 5150 Kramer. The unintentional project was kick-started by an ’80s Kramer body that was found in a thrift store, stripes and all, for $20. “I'm not necessarily a huge EVH fan, but I LOVE the stripes and have always wanted a Frankenstrat, so why not?” Fitz said. He added a Musikraft 1-piece Canadian rock maple neck with decal, Porter Pickups Classic bridge humbucker, an unknown single-coil, an Emerson Custom Guitars wiring harness, 3-way switch/1 volume, Schaller locking tuners, and a Floyd Rose. “It sounds good, plays well, and is very versatile,” Fitz says. “I'm not a shredder, but this still gets played as much as my vintage Epiphone Sheraton and my Strat."
