NAMM 2013 Editors' Picks - Day 1

PG Staff

PG editors Shawn Hammond, Charles Saufley, Rich Osweiler, and Rebecca Dirks pick their favorites from the first day of the show.

Premier Guitar February 2013

(3 of 3)

Marshall 5-Watt Slash 1x12
Marshall's new 5-watt Slash 1x12 combo is switchable down to 1 watt for bedroom volumes (the 5-watt definitely falls outside that category), is Class A, all-tube with three 12AX7s and an EL84. It has two footswitchable channels and footswitchable reverb. - RD

Electro-Harmonix 8-Step Program
Man, there are a whole lotta blinking lights worth of newness at the Electro-Harmonix hut. Here the new 8 Step Program sequencer is feeding the new 45,000 Looper a signal from the amazing new Hog 2, which wouldn't fit in the picture! - CS

Schecter Custom Shop Dracula Double-Neck
Undead awesomeness from the Schecter custom shop! - SH

Martin 000-17SM
Unlike the original all-mahogany Martin 000-17, the new-at-NAMM 000-17SM has a spruce top as well as a 12-fret neck and slotted headstock--making this a sweet amalgam of classic Martin style elements and a silky smooth fingerstyle machine. - SH

Eventide H9 Harmonizer
Eventide's H9 Harmonizer has the Space, ModFactor, PitchFactor, and TimeFactor built in, plus a new Ultra Tap Delay. It can be controlled via iPhone or iPad app using Bluetooth, but everything can also be accessed through the pedal's controls. Street price around $500. - RD

Hammond Leslie Pedal
Hammond brought their new digital Leslie pedal to NAMM, and with spot on emulations of 122, 147, and Model 18 rotary speakers and a model of the PR-40 stationary cabinet, it sounds incredibly fat and swirlingly delicious!! - CS

the 335 looks like a 330 with p-90's instead of humbucking
