DigiTech Announces The Impossible Pedal

Anaheim, CA (January 24, 2013) – DigiTech is proud to announce its first in a line of iStomp Signature Artist e-pedals, joining forces with guitarist extraordinaire Adrian Belew to debut The Impossible Pedal. The e-pedal lives up to its name, giving guitarists the ability to play impossible guitar riffs that you would never think to play.

Adrian Belew needs little introduction as a beyond-cutting-edge musician who has smashed sonic boundaries with artists including David Bowie, King Crimson, Talking Heads, Frank Zappa, Nine Inch Nails and others, and over a diverse solo career spanning nearly 20 solo albums. The cries, grunts, squeals, industrial noises, twang-bar-king whammy effects and other otherworldly sounds he can coax out of his instrument make him one of the world’s most uncategorizable guitarists.

Two knobs on The Impossible Pedal set the two different pitch intervals and two knobs select whether the pitches shift up or down over a two octave range. By stepping on the footswitch, the note played by the guitarist alternates between the standard (unaffected) pitch and the two pitch-shifted voices, to create melodic passages that extend beyond physical human ability. Even its iStomp icon is an impossible optical illusion that has to be seen to be disbelieved.

The DigiTech iStomp is a new concept in guitar stompboxes that allows musicians to turn the iStomp into any pedal available in the Stomp Shop online pedal store. Offering almost limitless sonic possibilities, the iStomp connects to an Apple® IOS device where musicians can use the free Stomp Shop app to load it with the e-pedal of their choice. The Stomp Shop app comes with ten of the most popular pedals and gives access to more than 40 additional e-pedals they can browse, try out and purchase. More e-pedals are added on a regular basis.

The DigiTech The Impossible Pedal e-pedal will be made available at the beginning of NAMM at a suggested retail price of $19.99. The DigiTech iStomp is currently available at $229.95 suggested retail.

could have gone with WINDOWS phone.....stable OS and sound drivers, and GROWING. It is a shame that the last few days I have seen other products mentioned with iOS, or Android, with no mention of Windows, like they don't exist, sad really.....I have owned all three OS systems on phones, and I love my new Nokia Lumia 920, smoooth running, beautiful, sturdy..Sorry I did not mean to change the subject, but it seemed the subject changed with Greg below, I am sure I will hear it from the apple farm, or the martians....I personally think there is a OVER abundance of Pedals lately, you just cant keep up with them all! I used to have a bunch of pedals, now I am happy with Guitar, Amp, cord.....and reverb, delay, or booster. Most musicians, who are not famous, and probably hold day jobs, find it harder to even afford some of these pedals.. Apple users, normally have an abundance of money, to keep up with the ever new Iphone, and Ipads that seem to come out every 3-4 months

Guys, it's an epedal. You upload it into Digitech's iStomp.

So what the hell is the reason for this twisted looking 'art-deco' device Digitech has manufactured? Is there an ergonomic reason for the 'odd' (to say the least) placing of the input jacks? Does it fit on your pedalboard like pictured; thus kicking the toggle like a place-kicker would kick a football? I mean, if it is a pitch-shifting/ transposing device, it's not that uncommon an effect, nevertheless canning the 'design' idea as a whimsical pain in the ass for normal usage. I don't get it...what next, the 'Rubik's Cube' overdrive?

Yeah, it's a shame Google basically turned a blind eye to musicians with Androids poor audio drivers... so I'm glad to see they are hopefully correcting this trend now.

I agree Siooma, Android is not the right choice for the musician right now, it's not only Digitech who choose iOS. Only now the lantency problems on Android are being solved. Manny developers are having a hard time with Android as far as I know.

@SST Sorry, but I think Digitech made the right choice to go with iOS. There's over 500 Million iOS devices sold……that's still a huge market to develop a user base.

Hey Digitech, when you market products to just one group...the "i" crowd with crap that is only usable if one owns an iphone or ipad, etc. you exclude a big section of your market. Way to go. Digitech has always been a bunch of cheese making losers anyway.
