Dunlop Releases Eric Johnson Signature Fuzz Face

It is inspired by EJ’s prized personal Fuzz Faces and is built to his incredibly strict specifications.

Benicia, CA (April 4, 2012) – Dunlop is proud to announce the release of the Eric Johnson Signature Fuzz Face.

No one cares more about tone than Eric Johnson, and his choice for getting sweet, singing lead tones is the Eric Johnson Signature Fuzz Face.

EJ worked closely with Fuzz Face guru Jeorge Tripps to create his signature pedal. It is inspired by EJ’s prized personal Fuzz Faces and is built to his incredibly strict specifications, featuring hand-selected BC183 silicon transistors (for higher gain), custom repro ’68-’69 knobs, and a vintage-style hammertone finish. The result: a beautifully dynamic, expressive, and powerful pedal.

So Jim a signature product is bad? AnalogMan is Signature.. And by the way do your research how the FuzzFace internal components changed throughout the years before you think that the Eric Johnson Fuzz sounds like the Bonamassa Fuzz.. I buy by Tone only. And also, the biggest overpriced scam is “Boutique” AnalogMan.

A fuzz is very primitive and limited to single string runs or blaring bar chords.Johnny Ramone never used one yet he could buzzsaw like a chainsaw!Davie Allan is the "King of The Fuzz Guitar" and he uses a ProCo Rat.He sounds like a 1,000 Lb Kazoo! And at times Davie Allan uses his Mosrite Fuzzrite from the mid 60's. He has a new CD Retrophonic 3 just released. www.davieallan.com Eric Johnson has made darn sure this Fuzz Face measures up to the sound before he allowed his endorsement to be used. He sounds like a 1,000 Lb violin. I myself use a '70s Muff Fuzz that is small enough to hide in your hand and it is great but to me nothing beats the Deluxe Big Muff that plugs in a wall socket by Electro Harmonix but they are only available in vintage as they have not ever reproduced them. It has the Soul Preacher sustain unit combined with the Muff Fuzz and is creamy like a Marshall breaking up in the sweet spot. I will get one of these as I can't stand the other renditions after the vintage ones. It's about time!

Chuck brings up an interesting subject about the 'batteries'. Common knowledge EJ has OCD about batteries, right? So, you would 'hope' that it comes with EJ 'signature edition' batteries too. But by the time you blow thru a box of those running this, you could have bought a different pedal instead...Just sayin'...

Geezze...Fuzz Face, Jimi Fuzz Face, Bonamassa Fuzz Face, now this makes Fuzz Face #4... Why!?! Oh yeah...MARKETING! What could possibly make that much difference...???

I've played one. It sounds friggin' fantastic. However, in true Eric Johnson style, it will only run on batteries (or one of those 9v snap adapters). So buyer beware.

I don't get it. Why would anyone EVER want a signature product? Why would you ever want to "sound" like anyone else? I've been playing for 32 years and I LOVE fuzz pedals. The best ones I've ever had are the two currently on my board--the AnalogMan Sun Face and the Fulltone SoulBender. No offense to Dunlop but their stuff cannot compare. I don't care who's name is on it.

What kinds of batteries does it come with?
