Eastwood Guitars Search for World's Ugliest Guitar

Press Release

Eastwood Guitars are out to find the World's Ugliest Guitar. Check out how you can help them find it.

Toronto, CA (February 26, 2013) -- Eastwood Guitars is determined to find the “World’s Ugliest Guitar”. To help make this decision, Eastwood is crowd sourcing the opinions of guitar players from around the globe with an interactive voting system at facebook.com/EastwoodGuitars1.

This voting page offers a choice of eight of the world’s most extreme mistakes in mass produced guitars from the past 50 years. Round one is underway, this collection focuses on what may be the worst (or best) of the kooky retro vintage era including “the Soviet answer to the Telecaster” – 1969 Tonika EGS-650; the 1970 Czechoslovakian rocker – the Jolana Star IX and a crazy concoction from Italian guitar genius Antonio Pioli – the Wandré Sacrabeo.

Just to make the voting even more fun, Eastwood Guitars has announced that the guitar with the most votes on May 31, 2013 at 11:59 pm (EST) will be recreated in a limited production run of 24 numbered guitars. One lucky voter will win their own copy of this Eastwood “World’s Ugliest Guitar #1” or their choice of any Eastwood Guitar.

“To say these oddballs are ugly is a little harsh," said Mike Robinson, President and founder of Eastwood Guitars, "they are all over the top and we know that a lot of our fans would love to have any one of these guitars. After all, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.”

The corvus...one of my guitar books says something like "Quite what the thinking was when this can-opener like shape emerged..." or words to that effect. A big pointless notch cut through an otherwise uninspiring spoon shaped body, with a ho-hum droopy pointy headstock seen a thousand times since. but probably worth thousands if you can find one!

I suppose they're wondering so they can make them for a year and then discontinue them when nobody wants them...

Funny how no Eastwoods are in there, I could think of at least three I wouldn't give to my worst enemy. I do, however, like quite a few of the guitars posted by them, just to spite them! ;)

You forgot the 78 Gretsch "Hockey stick" I forget the model name but they are pretty ugly. I know because I have one! Still its pretty cool sounding, and it has a great neck like a good Danelectro. (Yes there were those once upon a time).
