Epiphone Announces New TV Silver Collection

Press Release

Epiphone announces their TV Series collection which combines vintage vibe with futuristic shine.

Nashville, TN, January 10, 2013 – Epiphone Instruments announced the release of their Limited-Edition “TV Silver” Collection featuring the world famous Les Paul Standard, the Les Paul Custom PRO, the 1966 G-400 PRO, the Explorer PRO, the Wilshire PRO and the Thunderbird-IV Bass. All six classic guitars are finished in beautiful TV Silver, combining vintage vibe with futuristic shine. Each guitar is issued in limited quantities.

“Our fans are connoisseurs of our guitars and they give us the confidence to move forward and expand on our classics,” said Epiphone President Jim Rosenberg. “The ‘TV Silver Collection’ looks like it could have come from the early ‘60s, but these instruments have more power and versatility than even Les Paul could have imagined!”

The Limited-Edition “TV Silver” Collection instruments were designed with the passionate guitar player in mind. In addition to the classic features guitar aficionados expect from vintage models, Epiphone added pickup, electronic and hardware improvements. The “TV Silver Collection” is built to stand the test of time with premium Grover and Wilkinson machine heads and classic Alnico Classic and ProBucker humbucker pickups with coil-tapping.

The Limited-Edition “TV Silver” Les Paul Standard features a laminated maple veneer top, a mahogany body and neck with a 1960s SlipTaper profile, a rosewood fingerboard with pearloid trapezoid inlays, and 22 medium jumbo frets. The power of the “TV Silver” Les Paul comes from an Epiphone Alnico Classic and an Epiphone Alnico Classic Plus™ humbucker pickup with Les Paul’s iconic signature in gold on the headstock.

The Limited-Edition “TV Silver” Les Paul Custom PRO has all of the historic Les Paul features, including a mahogany body with a maple veneer top, a mahogany neck with a 1960's SlimTaper profile, and fan favorite Epiphone ProBucker-2 and Epiphone ProBucker-3 humbucker pickups with coil-tapping at the bridge and neck volume controls.

The Limited-Edition “TV Silver” 1966 G-400 PRO could be the most beautiful “SG” ever, featuring a mahogany body and neck with the classic G-400 profile, a rosewood fretboard with pearloid trapezoid inlays, Alnico Classic PRO humbuckers and coil-tapping via a push/pull control at the neck and bridge volume controls.

The Limited-Edition “TV Silver” Explorer PRO is another vintage icon remade for the 21st century with a mahogany body and neck and Explorer style six-on-a side mini Grover machine heads. The “TV Silver” Explorer PRO’s electronics feature Epiphone’s non-rotating 1/4” output jack, black TopHat knobs with silver numbers and Alnico Classic PRO humbuckers with push-pull coil-tapping for infinite tone variations.

The Limited-Edition “TV Silver” Wilshire PRO brings back one of Epiphone’s most legendary guitars. The “TV Silver” Wilshire PRO features a mahogany body and neck, Alnico Classic PRO humbuckers with push-pull activated coil-tapping via the neck and bridge volume controls, Grover machine heads with kidney style buttons and a solid LockTone Tune-o-matic bridge.

The Limited-Edition “TV Silver” Thunderbird IV Bass is a stunning new take on another rock classic featuring the Thunderbird’s time-honored body profile made of mahogany with a mahogany 1960s SlimTaper style neck, a rosewood fingerboard with pearloid dot inlays and a reverse headstock with premium die-cast bass tuners. The Thunderbird’s power remains, featuring two Epiphone TB-Plus humbuckers, black TopHat controls with silver inserts, and a 3-point adjustable bridge.

I ordered an ES-339 TV Pelham Blue that Epiphone debuted at last years NAMM show. Still havent recieved it. NOT IMPRESSED! I even sent Epiphone an e-mail just inquiring when I might see it. No Reply! REALLY NOT IMPRESSED!!! Maybe I'll use the deposit that I put against it a year ago toward a Schecter Solo or Tempest...

Seriously??? Gibson/Epiphone create a whole line of guitars called TV Silver, a clear nod to their old TV finish of the late 1950s, but then fail to produce the ONE MODEL ALMOST EXCLUSIVELY ASSOCIATED WITH THE TV FINISH, THE LES PAUL JUNIOR DOUBLE CUTAWAY!!! OH, but hey, they made the "lovely" Wilshire, and two regular Les Pauls to add to their already over-saturated Les Paul lineup!! Typical Gibson design/marketing blunder!!
