Ernie Ball Introduces the Music Man JP12

The JP12 is the newest collaborative effort between John Petrucci and the Music Man research and development team.

San Luis Obispo, CA (Jan 26, 2012) -- Continuing the success of the JPX and JPXI, Ernie Ball Music Man introduces the next installment in the John Petrucci line of signature guitars. The JP12 is the newest collaborative effort between John Petrucci and the Music Man research and development team.

The JPX12 features a combination of top appointments from the JPX, JPXI and BFR Petrucci signature instruments. Most notably, the JP12 neck has been streamlined to a symmetric, extra slim profile featuring a flatter 20" radius, medium jumbo stainless steel frets with a finished mahogany neck and an ebony fingerboard. Combined with a solid basswood body, mahogany tone block and maple top, the JP12 has become the ultimate rock machine. Similar to that of the JP BFR line and JPXI, controls include two three-way toggles perfectly wired for the Custom Dimarzio LiquiFire and Crunch Lab humbuckers, in addition to a redesigned Wide-Spread Pivot tremolo with a Music Man/Fishman piezo system bridge pickup.

The JP12 guitars will be available in 6 and 7-string versions, adorned with chrome hardware, mother of pearl inlays and a new Cherry Sugar finish.

I owned a ibanez jpm p3 and also an early ernie ball jp6 and now I have the bfr....by far the bfr is the most amazing guitar I have ever played if you have never tried on and are knocking it then youre a dumbass.

After playing for 22 years and many different super strat style guitars I bought one BFR Petrucci and then I bought another and then I bought yet another. Just since 2010 I finally found the guitar that fits me best. Balance, sound, feel and options out weigh anything on the current market.

John Petrucci is great, and Music Man guitars are of the highest quality, but those JP models are just ugly-ass guitars.

I also love mine, a 2004 - pre-BFR limited edition with Piezo, yes we buy them.

I own 3 of them. all BFR models. (2) 6 strings and (1) 7 string, all with Piezo. Don't know that the jp10, 11, or 12 have been changed enough to make me sell my old ones, but by far, they are the best PLAYING guitars I've ever owned. (I have Pauls, Strats, and PRS guitars too), but the modern appointments , playability, and piezo / dual outputs make these very versatile machines! You gotta try one!

Is anyone actually buying these John Petrucci signature guitars at $3000 a piece? I don't know one single person that either owns one or has played one. How many varieties of JP guitars do we need out there?
