Fender Introduces the Machete Combo

The Fender Machete Combo delivers serious tone and enormous functionality.

Scottsdale, AZ. (Jan. 13, 2012) — Fender introduces the all-new Machete combo amp. With tremendous versatility and performance-oriented features, this high-end combo is an essential companion for the discerning musician.

The 50-watt, dual-channel Machete combo boasts new high-gain channel, a clear-sounding clean channel that can be pushed into aggressive rhythm guitar territory, and onboard digital reverb. Its heavily robust enclosure construction and single 12” Celestion speaker deliver full, rich and pummeling response, with midrange notch control, adjustable speaker damping for finely tuned performance, XLR output with switchable speaker muting and cabinet emulation, and push-pull pots for bright boost and gain boost on the rhythm channel.

The combo’s distinctive cosmetics include vinyl covering with inlaid white piping and gray vinyl “steering wheel grip” accents, new Black Silver Strand grille cloth, heavily knurled chrome knobs and all-new corners and hardware. Four-button footswitch and fitted cover included.

Fender's attempt at a Mesa Boogie? Doesn't this cannibalize the SuperSonic's turf? What are these Fender marketing folks thinking. At 71 pounds, they are going against the lighter amp trend. PLUS - there are a million amps in this power range and features. I don't get it.

I agree Chad. My disillusion started with the so called
"PawnShop"instruments. Yeesh what a blatant RIP!!I bought a
$150.00 Squire about two years ago,Hum in bridge, single at neck. THEN they come out with the "Pawn Shop" RIP. Guess they we spaced out musicians would have forgotten the Squire. Unbelieveable! $799.for a $150 guitar!!!All made in Mexico!

I'd pay every penny if it's made in OUR USA. If it's made overseas I wouldn't buy it at any price. MADE IN USA is VERY important.

I checked out the video. I really like the notch features and the sounds but $2600 is nuts.

Maybe I'm nuts but I actually like the look. Curious to hear it and see if it delivers the goods.

Save your money, buy a used Fender amp, buy used pedals, and you're good to go. If you really want digital gear, get the Fender Cyber-Twin or the Fender-China Mustang amp. Find used ones so you won't be hit with the steep initial depreciation digital guitar gear gets.

I just don't understand what they're thinking. 2,600 for this? Fender needs to stick with building the simple, reliable, decent priced amps they're known for.

Wow that's ugly, and with DIGITAL reverb, what a POS this is. Great, it's like the CBS years all over again. Fender has lost my business for a while, let me know when you start reissueing brownfaces then I'll think about it.
