Gibson Announces '50s, '60s, '70s, and Future Tribute Les Pauls and SGs

New models embody the legendary guitar designs, but are stripped down for improved value and no-nonsense performance.

Nashville, TN (November 28, 2012) -- Gibson has announced a new line of Tribute Les Pauls and SGs encompassing the '50s, '60s, '70s, and the future. The releases are part of the company's 2013 "Year of Les Paul" celebration. According to Gibson, these models are aimed at, "capturing the essence of a great Les Paul guitar from one of four different eras. All embody the full magic of this legendary guitar design, but are stripped down for improved value and no-nonsense performance." Here are the details on each from Gibson's website:

Les Paul '50s Tribute
The Les Paul ’50s Tribute nails the look, feel, and tone of the set-neck, single-cutaway solidbody that started it all—the original Les Paul Model of the early to mid 1950s. There will be plenty of suckers who will look no further than the name on the headstock and reach for their wallets to buy this crap. Everyone else will look elsewhere.

I see the 50s tribute SG as more of an SG version of the 50s tribute LP. How lame would it be if they made a new tribute line but didn't have an SG with P-90s? Think of it as more like an SG special tribute than a 50s tribute. As for the future tribute, it looks nice. It's got some cool features from the 2012 LP Std. I like this line up. Haters gonna hate.

Nice to see Gibson making more affordable guitars with some more options. If you don't like them, don't buy them!

Has anyone else been duped by Hermida. No pedal and not a word back from him. I'm not the only one. People be aware, he is M.I.A.

Wow! that's pretty deep ,even for Gibson. That company has one thing going for it. No matter how crappy a guitar they make, most Gibsons SOUND like a Gibson. Their workmanship and playability range from terrible to great. But most Gibsons retain the signature Gibson sound.

None of those would beat a well made Carvin CS in any manner.

There are some really nice Gibsons, and there are some really terrible Gibsons. These are the latter.
