Nashville, TN (July 15, 2010) -- Gibson has announced an interesting new forum on their website that allows fans and critics to communicated directly with the company's Chairman and CEO, Henry Juszkiewicz. On the forum, Henry will answer reader questions (in full disclosure, something he declined to do for Premier Guitar readers). So far, Henry has been mostly forthcoming, even addressing the elephant-in-the-room that is the Hendrix Strat project in this post. Here's Gibson's official word on the forum:
Always at the cutting edge of innovation and connectivity, Gibson Guitar is pleased to announce a new forum, 4henry.gibson.com, which will allow fans to speak directly with Gibson Chairman and CEO Henry Juszkiewicz. The forum will be a venue for serious discussion on topics ranging from guitars to marketing and business ideas.

"I would love to get suggestions, from how the company works to what products you would like to see from us," Juszkiewicz said.

The user experience on 4henry.gibson.com will be significantly better than any previous Gibson forum. Using Invision Power Board, the page promises to be cleaner and have better usability, with real-time updates and connections to Facebook and Twitter. Members also can create their own user profile pages. Gibson.com also is pleased to announce that these improvements will appear on the Gibson.com forums in the very near future.

Registration is simple. Visit 4henry.gibson.com, click "register," and fill out a membership form. Membership is free, but applicants will be asked to use their real identities and answer a few questions about musical instrument use, so that Juszkiewicz can respond more personally. Those who do not wish to join can still read the posts, though they themselves will not be able to post.

"We hope by giving you direct access to management, we can make this a company that is much more responsive to its fans, and we can bring more people into our Gibson family," Juszkiewicz said.

Fishfly,

Way to turn it in to a personal attack...says a lot about you. By editing content, I meant they have the final say as to what getst posted and what doesn't.Something they wouldn't have had, had they just done a quick Q/A with PG.

Gibson had the opportunity to do the same thing in PG and declined stating: "we regularly do not issue answers via email" and suggested, given the deadline that it be done later in the year. Then, later on in the year they open a forum to answer questions? Again, where did they get THAT idea?

I don't consider myself a "Gibson Basher" per se as I've puchased one, my MAIN guitar, within the past three years. But if, in your estimation, people bash Gibson 24/7, maybe they have a miraid of resonse for doing so. One reason might be that Gibson owners, such as myself, don't what to see the company get driven into the ground by bad management decisions.

Gee...where did they get THAT idea? It's not in print, it's online an d they can edit the content as they see fit. Sissies...

You're kidding right? Have you seen their consumer comments on their web pages? Obviously not, sissy. Every Gibson Hater on the planet jumps on, 24/7 and criticizes whatever Gibson does. Gibson leaves the posts up for all to see. I don't see any other guitar brand exhibiting this sort of openess. Gibson may live on the edge, but "edit"? Not. I applaud anyone who will provide a forum for their critics. Who else does this?

Hey Henry, What about that sunburst piano you built? LOL! That may be the craziest thing I ever saw! Except for the one painted like a 60's hippie van! (Henry bought Baldwin piano company)

Henry,

The Zoot Suit guitar? How many hits did it take to come up with that idea and where do you get your stash?

At one time I owned over 20 Gibsons, now down to three. It seems that when HJ got a hold of Gibson it just went south. The es-446 was the last, and one of two new Gibsons that I bought. I was so happy to get rid of that poorly made (3600.00 canoe paddle). Ironically, it probably would be a good thing if Fender could buy Gibson. Ted McCarty surely would be fit to be tied if he could see the state of the once mighty Gibson Co. Even the quality of PRS's SE line BLOW AWAY an American made Gibson.

I read some of Henry J.'s comments on the forum. Glad he's finally stepping up to the plate to comment. But he still seems to live in the ivory tower, when answering questions about smaller dealers, Hendrix Strat, etc. In other words not seeing it from the questioners point of view. I think partly it's arrogance, like when President George Bush commented on Hurricane Katrina from a plane up above by saying "Sure is a lot of water down there" Even though Gibson is producing some great guitars right now, I probably won't buy one because of his handling of the company. Especially since there are so many great other choices available!

I am impressed that they are doing this. I am a big Gibson critic-but seriously good job!

P.S. Yet another reason why PG is the best guitar publication out there.
