When I was younger I was most interested in practical value... what quality of guitar am I getting for the lowest spend? But now I have more cash on hand, and I can afford to buy a guitar like this. So I did. One day if everyone works hard, becomes successful, and saves their money, they can too. In the meantime, some will criticize and throw stones, but they're not kidding anyone. They want this guitar badly but just can't afford it. That's why they came to this web page and read about it.

(smak (2/06/10)this may help) check out Guitar Aficiando (a great read about The Lacey Act" and its effect on the international guitar industry $7.99 at Barnes and Nobles plus great read on Jeff Bridges , James Hetfield and his Kustom cars (with the real deal) in front of a 1953 Buick Skylark are a 1958 1959 a 1960 and another 1959 Gibson Les Paul Standard , Life is good and another picture with 8 Flying V's and I bought it for the guitar info(there is even a section on Mesa Boogie's Randall Smith's Retreat in The Joshua Tree Desert (and a picture under the winding stairs of the very first Mesa/Boogie Mark V (if I am lucky I "might be able to afford that :Lunchbox model But no cab darn. That model looks sweet to me (imo) But the article "Log Jam" The Lacey Act has made it exponentially difficult to obtain and transport precious woods, threatenting to bring International Guitar Trade to a Halt, Main Two Page Color picture of a gigantic seizure in Urura, Brazil of illegally harvested wood .and Interviews with a shop owners who sell guitars out of the USA (where before a pre-1969 Martin D-28 would list Coubtry of Origin as USA must now list where each part of wood originated from (and if I am correct Martin keeps very good records) but of where each piece of wood came from ? Two lutheirs in the USA (one is Santa Cruz Guitar Company, the other a luthier who makes 50 custom electrics a year (Rick Kelly) who makes Tele, Strat and les Paul style electrics (custom and for $1,500 a guitar (yep $1,500) and Santa Cruz making gorgeous Acoustics (in common both are using reclaimed wood , The Sanat Cruz company for 4 decades and Rick Kelly (working in the Manhattan area and the Bowery Area being redone he has people bringing him wood, offering him wood for free, getting tips on wood (even a Fireman bringing him large various types and sizes of wood from buildings being condemmed (he has trouble keeping UP with the supply of 100+ year old maple, oak, pine A

They run new for $5999 and are a good buy in a year for half that. Owning a 59 Historic I can tell you is a treat. And you don't compare their Historics to run of the mill Gibson. If you do you're ignorant.

The million dollar guitar by Tony Bacon is a history book about the past. We are talking about the current state of Gibson guitars. I've seen the stripped down, "under $1000" guitars you are talking about and the problem with them is that they offer far less than the competition in the same price range. Fender has been producing a "good" build of an excellently designed guitar for decades. Gibson was known for producing an "excellent" build of a similarly well designed guitar for which it could rightly ask a higher price. When they cut the quality, they lose the right to ask that higher price.

I just did a count at musicians friend site.Gibson has 10 American made guitars at under $1000,Fender has 8,PRS has 0,Gretch has 0,G&L has 0 ,Ernie Ball has 0,Lots of companys make nice guitars. Gibson is one of them. Also I've never bought a guitar at list price.Usually at least 30% off.I hope none of you are.Read the million dollar guitar by Tony Bacon. It's a very interesting read.

Thats true they did make great guitars for under $1k ....in the 1960s & 70s, and those were all made the same as what they now call "custom shop" & grossly over-charge for. In the kalamazoo era They were made by woodworkers & skilled craftsman that used Hide glue & Real nitro lacquer which is the key to a great sounding guitar, and in TN they are built on Cnc's primarily and by an endless turn around rate of $12. an hr employees who think they are getting a dream job but find out soon enough that the nashville Gibson company is recognized by the state as one of the worse places to work. Also these current guitars are built as fast as possible using cheaper rosewoods with many consrtuction & finish flaws but as long as that famous logo is on top- "Thats" what they're selling. All the Tards on the stupid LP forum that defend the junk this current company makes would change their minds if they would just look into whats Really going on in the big business world of guitar making. so yeah.
