Gretsch Introduces G6128T-GH George Harrison Signature Duo Jet Guitar

Features include distinctive appointments and modifications found on and inspired by Harrison’s original 1957 Gretsch Duo Jet, which he purchased secondhand in the early 1960s.

Scottsdale, AZ (July 13, 2011) -- Gretsch celebrates the legacy of George Harrison with the G6128T-GH George Harrison Signature Duo Jet guitar, modeled on the instrument that the legendary guitarist referred to as his “first real decent guitar.”

Features include distinctive appointments and modifications found on and inspired by Harrison’s original 1957 Gretsch Duo Jet, which he purchased secondhand in the early 1960s. These include a lightweight mid-’50s-style chambered body, all-black color scheme (arched maple top, mahogany back and sides, and back of the one-piece mahogany neck), Bigsby B3C tailpiece with a black Phillips head tremolo arm pivot bolt, and an offset strap button on the lower bout.

Other features include three-ply body binding (white-black-white), white single-ply neck and headstock binding, 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with 12” radius and hump-block pearloid inlays, two single-coil DynaSonic pickups, vintage-style “rocking bar” bridge with rosewood base, silver plexi pickguard, chrome-plated Grover V98CM Sta-Tite tuners, Gretsch “G” arrow control knobs, chrome-plated hardware, Harrison’s signature on the truss rod cover and a premium tweed case.

overpriced collector's piece. Japanese gretsches excellent quality and proper player's guitars at a fair price. Rickenbackers have always been made in the USA afaik and are incredibly well constructed and finished instruments, again very fairly priced. Gibson QC is inferior to epiphone IMHO, and not in the same solar system as either ric or japanese gretsches. As for famous players ending up with strats - personal opinion but clapton's best work was done on LP/335 and SG, townshend moved to strats but never sounded better than when abusing a Ric. Hendrix did everything that ever could be done with one i suppose, but then again he did invent electricity didn't he?

Len, Ric has made Lennon reproductions - the 325C58 (no longer made) and 325C64. Ric also makes Harrison's first electric 12-string seen in the movie "A Hard Day's Night" the 360/12C63. All Ric guitars are made in the USA in Santa Ana, CA.

Alot of money for what harrison described as a decent guitar. After going through all the guitar models out there they(Beck, Clapton harrison Hendrix) all end up with a stratocaster as their go to guitar. What more do you need to know?

Real nice, but the price? Makes Gibson's look like give aways. Let's hope that Ric will bring out a Lennon ax and a Harrison tribute 12.Hope it's made in the USA.
