Spunk: Well, when a big chain buys up all the small retailers, there are not many independant left. The chains always get the best prices because they buy in big. So for the regular Joe with a slim pocket... saving 50 bucks on a guitar is alot. Why should he "donate" his 50 bucks to the small shops other than looking at it as an investment in good service later? It is the manufacturers/producers/distributors that are to blame here. They giving good % to the bigger companies and no % to the small independent shops... Forcing the smaller shops out of business :-(

Someone said "Seems to be a trend to "Walmart-ize" everything these days". Well, guess why? Because Joe Public wants everything at the cheapest price and available ASAP. If all of you would visit your local mom and pop music store and support them, Guitar Center would not exist. Don't blame GC; it is YOU who put them in business.

Ugh, I'd rather have a prostate exam than shop at Guitar Center. I could post the reasons, but I'd probably end up writing a novel.

Hey German Fafian - $5 to build??? Who do you steal your chassis, jacks, pots, knobs, switches, and electronics components from? How do you get metal work & paint for free? Who does the stuffing, soldering, assembling, & testing your pedal for free? Not to mention packaging, shipping, and support. GET REAL!!!

When boutique pedals hit Guitar Centers then they are not boutique anymore, but corporate.

99.99% of those "Boutique" pedals are a rip off of someone else's design and can be made for less than 5$ a piece. I know because I'm learning to buil them :(

Watch how many of the smaller companies listed go out of business within 5 years.
