Intellitouch Releases Freedom One Digital Wireless System

The industry’s first wireless system with a receiver built into a pedal tuner.

Carrollton, TX  (August 9, 2012) – OnBoard Research Corporation has now created the industry’s first wireless system with a receiver built into a pedal tuner. The new Intellitouch Freedom One is a digital wireless system for guitar and bass, providing a high-quality digital wireless link between a guitar and a pedal tuner, eliminating the cable normally attached to a guitar.

The Freedom One has two components: A compact wireless transmitter that plugs directly into a standard 1/4 inch output jack on a guitar or bass, and a pedal tuner with a 1/4 inch output that connects to an amplifier or to other effects pedals. When using the new Intellitouch Freedom One, the performer is free to roam away from their pedal board while playing.

The Freedom One’s pedal has a built-in tuner with a large backlit display that changes from red to green when in tune. The tuner is automatic, chromatic, and displays the measured musical note on a large LCD screen for fast, easy tuning. The pedal also has a backlit footswitch that is easy to find on a dark stage. The footswitch turns on the tuner display and mutes the output while tuning.

OnBoard Research is conscious of the environment, and recently released the industry’s first rechargeable tuner. The Freedom One’s pedal tuner also has a useful feature to save batteries – a backup input jack for an audio cable, so that the pedal tuner can still be used without the wireless transmitter. If a user wishes to consume no batteries while practicing, they simply plug the pedal into a standard 9v effect pedal power supply and connect an audio cable from their guitar to the extra input jack on the pedal. This feature’s purpose is for the environment and is not needed for performance, as the Freedom One’s transmitter squeezes an astounding 10 hours out of a single AAA battery.

The Intellitouch Freedom One model #WT1 comes with OnBoard’s legendary Limited Lifetime Warranty, and has a List Price of $149.95.

Was very disappointed with this product. Dropped out easily, jack knife type jack that plugged into the guitar broke the first time I gigged with it. Warranty requires paying shipping and processing to make a claim.

Well my experience was quite a bit different than the other reviews I'm reading here. I'm glad I didn't read these first, because I may not have bought one. But I'm so glad I did! I hate all the cables and this solved my problem. The sound is clean (I'm a Jazzer), the tuning is good (I do mute my strings before going to the next string and I find it gives a faster response) and the range was more than advertised. I have no complaints - only praise!

I bought one of these and tried it out. I found it to be not useful for live performance. My complaints were: (1) Tuning issues as another reviewer noted. (2) Unit would "hiccup" during fast movements like jumping off a drum riser. (3) The unit wants a certain input level or it cuts off - this makes it impossible to use your volume knob for dynamic control like you would with an analog unit. I will say the range was better than advertised. For light duty use or practice this might be OK. If you actually play live you'll need something much better with a real tuner.

Did puchase one of the units on ebay for 99.95 they work as for tuning this leaves a lot to be desired, will not hold proper on the mid tune dial and it is off on every tuner I have tu models and and fender pedal models. so I didn't buy for the tuner and the wireless suits me just fine really works well I am buying another for the accoustic I use in shows. Just a small tuning issue but good product

I've been following this excellent idea for a product ever since its rather premature announcement at NAMM in January. Please someone post a a hands-on review of it soonest. My regular trusted retailer is refusing to sell me the one I've had on order for quite a while on the basis that it's too flimsy and doesn't sound good. He's returned his first (could be only) batch to the local distributor

I think this looks amazing! I will definitely be adding one to my board. The screen looks great and easy to read. Looks like really good battery life that will make it through a whole show. Too essential things- a tuner and a wireless- in one unit. Genius. I may "not knowing what freedom is", but I do know great product at a great price.

Is being too much talk of freedom from American companies who is not knowing what freedom is. In Belarus is known very well, Lukashenka leading us freedom. But $149 is being too expensive for these product, not being freedom.
