Knaggs Guitars Unveils Headstock Design, European Distribution

Premier Guitar

Knaggs Guitars unveils first look at headstock, and official launch date.

Annapolis, MD (November 10, 2009) -- The highly anticipated Knaggs Guitars, first reported by Premier Guitar from Summer NAMM, has announced a distribution partnership with Sound Service for Germany, Benelux, Switzerland, and Austria. The company also announced its official launch at Musik Messe in Frankfurt in March, 2010.

In a press release from the company, Joe Knaggs commented, "Peter [Wolf] and I have traveled the world for the past 10 years, so it seems only appropriate that we are launching Knaggs Guitars across the big pond! The respect and warmth I have gotten from Europe and so many other foreign countries has been absolutely wonderful, and I feel blessed that I have been able to make these countries a part of my life. With this being said, I am proud of the fact that this is the first major stepping stone for Knaggs Guitars.”

Along with the press release was the first image of the headstock that will be appearing on Knaggs guitars. We'll keep you updated with information on models as it comes out.

For 6 on a side it's a very nice shape. Nice curves to it and a bit more elegant than a Fender shape. I like the logo, though the mixed case lettering does seam a little different. But that also makes it unique. I'm sure they tried different versions and maybe this one was the most appealing. It looks like it is inlay and not a decal, which I like. I don't understand how someone can say it's overpriced when there isn't a price tag with it yet. Though I would not expect it to be cheap. You get what you pay for these days and these guys have been known for extremely high quality work. I wish them the best and can't wait to see more!

Ah, feeeeeel the hate.
I don't know what everybody's so up in arms about, sure it's derivative, all 6 on-a-side HSes are, and it's got slightly 'horsey' overtones (nag-I get it!), but headstocks are harder than bodies to design, they're limited by their function and size, and the buying public is ridiculously slavish anyway...new ideas are roundly ignored and dismissed by posers and wannabes, as much as they SAY they want new stuff. I'm sure Joe knows all that better than the posters below. And those who berate quality builders for charging enough to make a profit are mostly commenting on their own inability to afford one.
End Users usually are, they think they're the only ones in the equation. (Give us super-high quality for Nothing!)
From an actual critical standpoint, the curves are nicely balanced with no apparent flaws, but I think the logo decal needs to go right about 3/16ths and the star straight up about the same distance, maybe an eighth. They're both being 'pulled' slighty by the edges they're nearest to.
The mixed-case typestyle is a little odd, but hey whatever you like. I'd have probably brought the top right arm of the K above the N's top line, there's no reason for modesty, here, and there's kind of a 'hole' there, spacewise.
There are only a handful of people who'll know the difference on those things though, I acknowledge.
The real test is how does it 'fit' on the guitar it's attached to? That's the real test, and it's often ignored- so how 'bout a peek at the whole magillah?

Is that the best they could do? A Fender headstock with a piece missing? What a joke. C'mon Joe your best work is already behind you? It's like Joe Perry without Steven Tyler.

The lamest pair of websites ever. Just what the world doesn't need: another overpriced, derivative guitar. I can't believe this is newsworthy -follow the money.
