Lollar Pickups Introduces Regal Humbucker

The Regal humbuckers are a reproduction of the wide-range humbucker


Vashon Island, WA (September 6, 2010) -- Lollar Pickups announce the release of the new Regal humbucking guitar pickups.

According to Jason Lollar, “After several years of research (and debating if the cost of tooling would be worth it), we’ve come up with a reproduction of the 'wide range' humbucker that sounds and functions almost identically to the originals. Ours sound a little bit clearer than the vintage version, partly because we made the pickup covers out of slightly thinner material, which reduces the dampening of tone that metal pickup covers can sometimes cause. The originals had the same winding specs for the neck and bridge… ours vary a little for better volume and tone balance. We make custom sized bobbins in our shop, with the covers, base plates, and lead and magnet wire made to spec for us in the US. The covers will be engraved with the Lollar logo, and offered in nickel, chrome or gold.”

Based on the classic (but with a few twists of his own), the pickups are the same size as the original for easy installation. Lollar says the pickups' tone is fat and clear, with a nice top end sparkle, great note bloom, with a vocal midrange that never sacrifices note definition.

on 01/01/2011 		These do not utilize the original cunife magnet pole pieces, from what I read on the Telecaster forum... Might want to check first, if that's what you're looking for.

on 09/25/2010 		I'm now thinking VERY seriously about re-buying a Fender Deluxe Telecaster. The stock bridge was okay for classic rock with some OD, but the neck was just too muddy for me and I don't like one trick pony guitars. Other than that, I loved that guitar so I'm now eyeing a new one and these p'ups! Thanks Jason!

on 09/14/2010 		@ Abe: "Humbucker" means it "bucks hum", nothing more. It has two coils. It doesn't matter how big they are. BTW, so these have the CuNiFe magnets, right???

on 09/11/2010 		Finally! I have a couple of Starcasters, and these pickups really help define the sound of those guitars. The original pickups were truly different from other humbuckers, and the Fender reissues are a completely different (standard) design. The pole pieces on the originals were themselves the magnets, made out of cunife (copper, nickel, iron alloy) so that they could be easily machined and threaded. They really don't sound like any other humbucker. Vocal midrange really sums up the sound.

on 09/10/2010 		Abe, these are NOT replacements for a Gibson style humbucker.They are made as replacements for the sought after original Fender Wide Range humbucking pickup of the 70's, which are slightly bigger.

on 09/10/2010 		I'm confused....what do they mean they're the "same size as the originals"?.....wouldn't they HAVE to be to be considered a humbucker?...anything smaller would make it a mini-humbucker....or a P-90....wouldn't it?...

on 09/10/2010 		This makes the Fender Tele Deluxe Re-Issues much more palatable. Get a tele deluxe reissue, get these pickups...instant tele deluxe. Hope these pickups live up to their advertising.
