Play Crossroads Contest Winner Announced

Liana Prudencio

McGarvey and his band won prizes and paid flights and hotel accommodations to play at the Crossroads Festival.

Chicago, IL (June 5, 2010) -- Ryan McGarvey, along with bass player Sam Miller and drummer August Johnson, were selected to play at the Crossroads Festival 2010 on Saturday, June 26 at Toyota Park in Chicago.

McGarvey and his band will perform for 30 minutes on the Ernie Ball Village Stage. This stage will also host clinic sessions led by Joe Bonamassa, Robert Randolph, and other musicians.

McGarvey is a native of New Mexico and has received many awards, including Guitar Center's "Guitarmaggeddon: Next King Of The Blues" champion of New Mexico in 2006.

The prizes for the Ernie Ball Play Crossroads contest also include a $5000 shopping spree at Guitar Center and Ernie Ball Music Man string and guitar endorsement.

To win the contest, bands had to create a profile on the contest site and gain votes from fans. The top 500 bands to receive the most votes were reviewed by a panel of judges made up of Crossroads Guitar Festival personnel, Ernie Ball representatives, and sponsors of the contest. The judges based their decision on musicianship, originality, authenticity, and songwriting.

RobDog, I'm not sure they ever made them quite like this : ) For sure, guitarists like him are found once in a blue moon.
