RIFFS: Diamond Teams Up With Blankenship Amps

The very first look at Diamond and Blankenships' handwired, class A amps: the Del Fuego 21-watt head

Premier Guitar Exclusive News: Diamond teams with Blankenship Amps to create a new line of handwired class A amps. The partnership began at NAMM this year, where Jeff Diamant and Roy Blankenship first became acquainted. "I was a one man operation. I had a wiring guy who worked for me part time, and wearing all of the hats was starting to get old," said Roy. Roy was acquainted with some of Jeff's staff, who encouraged the men to meet. Roy and Jeff met, shared ideas, and Jeff brought Blankenship into the Diamond family.

The result is a line of handwired, Class A, vintage-style amps under the Diamond name. Roy will oversee the production of the new Diamond line in Houston, as well as the Blankenship line which will now be produced by Diamond. Jeff is quick to point out that they have not changed anything on Blankenship amps; all of the tubes, wiring and components will stay the same. Diamond's line will include "sister" products to existing Blankenship amps.

Pictured is the Del Fuego 21-watt head. It will also be available in 1x12 and 2x12 combos with Celestion G12H 30s or Blues (for an upcharge).

The Variplex 50 watt smokes every plexi I played and heard. People get upset when they hear mine and realize they blew a ton of cash on the latest mosquito buzz box that your ear gets tired off. Roy used the quality parts in the right combination to get it right. His amps are amps for life. You will never sell them, because you know what you got. They just make you want to play more.

The Blankenship Leeds 21 might be the best amp I've ever played through
