The Guitar Dynometer mechanically measures all aspects of a guitar to compare it with other guitars

Jim Cara, one of the hot-rodders profiled in our "5 Hot-Rodders You Should Meet" article (February '09) has has a lot going on lately, including a big move for his shop. But our interest was really piqued when he sent out an e-mail about his latest creation: the Guitar Dynometer.

Says Cara, the Guitar Dyno allows him to, "mechanically run all aspects of a guitar, and compare the results to others. This checks weight, density, body tone and frequency, pickup output, response, and much more." If you're in the Delaware area, Cara will be doing the scans for free to collect as much data as possible in the beginning. A date when it will be ready hasn't been announced yet, but Cara has a Twitter account with all of their news.

We're looking forward to seeing exactly how this works and where it might become useful in the future.
